‘Please Don’t Tell Anybody…’ – Andre Agassi Feared Telling Ex-Wife Brooke Shields About Going Out With His Then-Girlfriend Steffi Graf

The personal life of Andre Agassi was full of tumultuous moments, similar to his professional life. He found‌ true love only on the second attempt. His first marriage with Brooke Shields ended just after two years and he feared about falling in love again. However, the eight-time Grand Slam champion found a perfect partner in fellow tennis professional Steffi Graf. They both are happily married for over two decades now and have two children together.

There was a time, back in the late 90s, when he was dating the former world number one and feared telling his ex-wife about his girlfriend. In his autobiography, the eight-time Grand Slam champion has written about the time he told his ex-wife about him dating a tennis star.

Andre Agassi was scared while talking about Steffi Graf to his ex-wife

He has written about an instance in his autobiography, where he talked about the time he was scared to tell his ex-wife, Brooke, about his relationship with the 22-time Grand Slam champion. The tennis star was in Los Angeles at that time and the Hollywood actress came to see him in person, but all he cared was about going on a date with his then-girlfriend.

He explained that even after losing a clash with Pete Sampras, the tennis star had no regrets and was the happiest person at that time. He was all decked up for his date with the former world number one. But, before meeting her, the eight-time Grand Slam champion ran into his ex-wife.

And when asked about who was he going out with, the tennis star first hesitated to answer the question but then whispered, “I’m going out with Stefanie Graf.” And then said in fear, “Please don’t tell anybody, Brooke. She’s a private person, and she doesn’t like any attention.” Despite their difficult marriage, the Hollywood star understood his point and agreed to not tell anyone.  

Agassi’s ex-wife was once obsessed with his present wife

In his memoir, the former world number one also talked about how his first wife was a big fan of his present wife, Steffi Graf. The American actress even had a picture of the 22-time Grand Slam champion put up on their refrigerator when they were married.
