Will the latest racquetball sport, pickleball, that is sweeping through the United States, take over the tennis world? Is there even a possibility that a sport like tennis can be easily replaced by a similar sport? Recently, tennis legend John McEnroe shared his take on what will happen if Pickleball ever overtakes tennis in the sporting world.

The pickleball and tennis conflict has divided the tennis world into two categories. On one hand, there are tennis players who don’t want the rising sport to take prominence over their sport. And on the other hand, some of them are choosing pickleball and create a name for themselves in the sports world.

What will happen if Pickleball ever overtook tennis?

Recently, The Pat McAfee Show shared a video that displayed the best conversations that took place in the last week. And, in that video, there was a moment where the American tennis legend, McEnroe, talked about what will happen if ever the racquetball sport took control over tennis.

He said, “You got tennis up here somewhere way above there, then you’ve got racquetball, these other games. Pickleball—where the hell did that come from? 60 this has been around 60 years, for God’s sake, and now all of a sudden they’re saying it’s bigger than tennis. I’m like wow. I mean, but I think if that happens, then there’s an apocalypse. Just keep that in mind all right because if we even get close to that, we got some serious problems.”

Not only that, but he also talked about how tennis is the biggest racquetball sport, and pickleball can never match the highs of tennis. However, the seven-time Grand Slam champion is among those tennis players who don’t quite really enjoy playing pickleball.

McEnroe once explained how pickleball can never hold a candle to tennis

The 64-year-old tennis star is all set to take part in the Pickleball Slam with other players, including Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick, and Michael Chang. In a recent Twitter advertisement for the Pickleball Slam, the American tennis legend talked about how he didn’t really enjoy playing the rising racquetball sport. He stated, “Compared to tennis, pickleball does suck.”

Not only that, but he also said that he doesn’t pretend to know everything about this sport and quipped sarcastically that he isn’t particularly swayed by the rising sport. And he has always been open about how, as a tennis legend, he really doesn’t enjoy the rising racquetball sport in America.
