Love is in the air! Paula Badosa has traveled to Basel to cheer for her loved one. The 26-year-old Spaniard has been having some tough times recently. On court, she was forced to give a walkover to Daria Kasatkina in her SF match at the Ningbo Open. After that, she penned down a heartfelt message to call out an early end to her comeback year. Badosa played some outstanding tennis in the last few tournaments, and it’s sad to see this abrupt ending to her 2024 season. Amid all these, even off-the-court Badosa landed in hot water due to controversial gestures and comments. So, it’s always nice to see her back, enjoying her time supporting her boyfriend.
What were the controversies, though? A few weeks ago, Paula Badosa’s coach, Pol Toledo, posted several pictures of Badosa and her team in Beijing for the China Open. In one of those pictures, the tennis star was spotted pulling her eyes back with a chopstick (a gesture that was later on interpreted by fans as offensive and racist). She received a huge backlash from the fans, and Toledo was forced to delete that image from that post. Days after that controversy, Paula Badosa yet again reignited that unfortunate incident with a joke on social media.
Toledo recently shared a picture of Badosa on his Instagram account and wished her well for a stronger comeback. He captioned that post, saying, “You truly deserve every success that comes your way. @paulabadosa.” After seeing this post, Paula Badosa uploaded that post on her Instagram story and playfully wrote, “Thank you for not posting a picture that gets me in trouble this time.”

However, even this post has now raised a few eyebrows among the fans, as they feel Badosa was rude in her apology and the comment wasn’t appropriate after she made that ‘racist‘ remark. A few hours later, she yet again expressed her disappointment over the controversies, saying, “It’s really tiring to see constantly hate and criticism on this social media. I had an issue, yes. But after that, people and fans in China treated me amazing.” Now recently, after the series of these controversial incidents, Paula Badosa is back in the box to support his boyfriend, Stefanos Tsitsipas, at the Swiss Indoors.

Stefanos Tsitsipas took on Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo in the R32 of the Swiss Indoors. Tsitsipas won the first set, but the Argentinian came back strongly in the second. Thankfully for all the Tsitsidosa fans, the Greek sealed the deal in the third. However, this isn’t the first time that we’ve seen these two lovebirds showing their love and support for each other. The couple started dating in June 2023, and then, in May 2024, they had a brief split before getting back together shortly after that.
Paula Badosa has heaped praise on Tsitsipas time and again on several occasions. For example, during the US Open this year, she expressed her joy in partnering with her boyfriend for the mixed doubles event. “We spend time off court, but also on court. It’s really special in a Slam. It’s like a dream come true,” said the Spaniard. She even hailed Stefanos Tsitsipas as a “champion.” During that same speech, she portrayed her support towards Tsitsipas after his first-round exit from the tournament. Badosa added, “Big shout out to him. He’s going through tough moments – but he’s a champion and he will always be a champion.“
Even before that, when she won the 2024 Citi Open title, we saw her thanking her family and boyfriend for their constant support. Badosa credited them for the support they provided and said that she wouldn’t be where she was without these people. Fans love watching Tsitsidosa together. What does Stefanos Tsitsipas think of the support he receives from his girlfriend?

“She has brought a lot of blessings into my life” – Stefanos Tsitsipas shares heartfelt note to Paula Badosa
Attending Stefanos Tsitsipas’ matches is a challenge for Paula Badosa. Previously, she revealed that they suffer a lot while supporting each other, especially considering the emotions that are always attached throughout their matches. “I think we both suffer a lot. We’re very emotional, and as we say, we love each other so much, and we want the best for us.“ However, they still do not miss a chance to cheer out loud for each other from the stands whenever they get time. Having this kind of support system is a huge thing for any player. What does Tsitsipas think of this?
After reuniting following their brief split, we heard Stefanos Tsitsipas say, “I feel that she is my person and we understand each other; that puts more value in everything I do and I want her by my side as often as possible. So yes, we’ve reconnected and we’re in a good moment.” Then later on, during an interaction with Tennis Tonic, we heard the Greek admit, “She has brought a lot of blessings into my life and I am proud that I can call her my girlfriend and my life partner….We have learned a lot from each other, we have learned how to fight, how to accept difficult situations and try to go through them.“

He’s happy to get a shoulder to always lean on and discuss things but also be vulnerable about anything that is carried deep inside of him. Tsitsipas added that whenever he leaves the tennis court, he knows there is one big, warm hug waiting for him. It’s pretty nice to see them cherish their love by showcasing their support through thick and thin. What are your thoughts on this beautiful tennis couple?
