The biopic ‘King Richard’, tells the story of Richard Williams, Serena and Venus Williams’ father. Richard played a huge role in transforming the young girls into two of the greatest tennis players of all time. Just recently, the lead actor of the biopic, Will Smith, had an interesting conversation with the Williams sisters.
During the conversation, Smith showed some video messages from different athletes, talking about the greatness of Serena and Venus. Novak Djokovic, Coco Gauff, and Simone Biles were amongst the prominent names who hailed the storied career of the iconic sisters.

Novak Djokovic praises Venus and Serena Williams
Just before the launch of ‘King Richard’, Will Smith showed Venus and Serena videos from athletes appreciating their greatness. The World No. 1, Novak Djokovic, also took the opportunity to express his feelings for the Williams’ sisters.

Djokovic said, “I’m one of the millions of fans around the world that they have. They are icons of this sport… Everything they do, on and off the court is truly inspiring. The sport owes so much to the Williams sisters. Their perseverance is incredible. Their willingness to continue to write the history books of our sport is something that truly motivates me and many others to follow their footsteps.”
The conversation also featured a clip of Serena and Djokovic dancing together, and he praised Serena for always being ‘game’ for any kind of fun.
Other athletes who hailed the Williams’ sisters
Notably, the 17-year-old America, Coco Gauff, also sent a message to Venus and Serena Williams. Coco Gauff appreciated the professionalism of sisters on-court and their off-court warmness.
The 17-years old said, “Serena and Venus, they are people that I look up to… I remember when I played Venus at Wimbledon, and also at Australian Open, I had to remind myself not to look at the scoreboard because I would be star-struck… Also, the impact that Mr. (Richard) Williams continues to leave on the world.”
Interestingly, Venus Williams has played against Gauff twice and has even played alongside the teenager in doubles.

Right after that, Serena Williams said, “I love Coco, she’s so sweet. And she really worked so hard.”
