Coco Gauff has pretty much been the star of this week’s Citi Open. Despite having three other singles finalists across the two sections, Gauff has been the one grabbing all the headlines. The 19-year-old has mesmerized the fans with her on-court interviews and stunning racket skills. Along with the crowd, one of the recent additions to her team seems quite pleased with her.

Following an early Wimbledon exit, Gauff made several changes to her coaching team. She also hired Pere Riba as her primary coach. At the same time, she added Brad Gilbert for consultancy and it seems like the pair has hit off well.

Gilbert has years of experience with tennis players. He has previously worked with the likes of Andre Agassi, Andy Murray and Andy Roddick. Well, winning over such high-profile tennis analysts might not be easy to please, right? Well, for Gauff, it wasn’t quite difficult as the 61-year-old is already in awe of Gauff.

A Twitter user recently asked Gilbert about his experience with Gauff so far. Despite only working together for one tournament, he was mightily impressed. He replied to the question saying, “really enjoyed 1st tournament 🏟️ she is extremely hardworking and very humble 👊👍💪🙏😎“.

Gauff has always shown her humble side. There are no qualms over her humility. Gilbert also lauded her for being a hard worker. Gauff recently had to deal with a misconception regarding her time off the court. However, she has managed to back up her answer with a solid run at the Citi Open.

Gauff debunks her critics

The critics are always pointing toward the players following a big defeat. The same happened with Gauff after she bowed out of Wimbledon in the first round. However, the American revealed how the tiresome WTA schedule only allows a little off-time. Alongside answering her critics, she also fired back at them by securing a birth in the final of the ongoing Citi Open. The 19-year-old has dealt well with the media and the pressure to deliver consistent results.
