Playing under the New York skyline, Novak put on a show, entertaining the crowd who backed him with every swing and a miss. Notably, as he eased past Tallon quite comfortably, he put his name in the record books, right next to American veteran, Venus Williams. Novak’s victory against Tallon was his 31st night-match win, tieing the record for the 3rd most by a male or female athlete.

Another record for Novak Djokovic

Novak displayed sheer dominance on the court against Tallon, beating him in straight sets. With his emphatic win, he now trails fellow ‘G.O.A.T.’ Roger Federer’s U.S.Open night match win tally by 5 wins. Notably, with Roger out of the US Open, Novak stands a chance of overtaking the Swiss giant in this record. However, American sensation Serena Williams tops the list with 44 such wins.

Djokovic’s journey to victory tonight was met with hindrance from a rather rude fan. During his round 2 clash, a spectator seated in the front row attempted to shake his focus, heckling him before every point. However, with history at stake, Novak wasn’t about to let a fan disturb his composure.

Not acceptable

Unbothered by the rude fan’s unprecedented interference, the Serbian continued his game. However, Novak eventually complained to the chair umpire and had the fan correct his unruly behavior.

Post his game, he reflected upon the same, saying “When someone from team sports watches it, they probably say “what a spoiled brat”, but it’s a different sport. I am fine with the noise, but if someone does it intentionally during the point over and over again, then it’s not fair.”

With every win, Novak moves one step closer to achieving the historic Calendar Grand Slam. Notably, as the tournament’s top seed, he is the undoubted favorite for the ultimate glory. However, with the likes of Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and a few other uprising stars headlining the action in New York, an upset similar to Tokyo is feared.
