Top-ranked WTA star Iga Swiatek finds herself in a very difficult situation currently. The tennis recently stunned fans with another victory in Rome as she defeated her round of 32 opponent Yulia Putintseva. However, besides the fact that she managed to win her battle, a question regarding the following match between her idol Rafael Nadal and friend Hubert Hurkacz made her lose words.

It is time for the Italian fans to root for Rafa once again as he recently stepped into the court. Having already lost the first set with a score of 6-1, he stands against one of the toughest competitors that he faced after stepping back into the game. Besides the fans finding it hard to choose sides, Iga Swiatek also found herself stuck in a situation of dilemma on being asked about who she roots for.

“Today it’s a tricky match cause he’s playing against Huby so I’m not gonna cheer for anybody,” she said, mentioning how hard it is for her to choose between an idol or a friend and doubles partner. Leaving the choice to the fans, Swiatek added, “I’m just gonna wish that its gonna be great tennis and great entertainment for you guys because they are both really good people.”

Besides mentioning her choice to hold on from this match, the tennis star also explained what both of these competitors mean to her. “He’s a good inspiration for sure! I talk about it everytime cause he’s basically the only idol I ever had,” she said, revealing what Rafa’s legendary career means to her.

As both the players continue to brawl to seek a better position in the ongoing tournament, it still remains to be seen if Swiatek’s idol manages to beat her friend or if the odds turn around.

It has been a long time since the Polish bird Iga Swiatek has been singing songs of admiration for Rafael Nadal. Back when the Spaniard was on his run for the title in Madrid, Swiatek took a moment to reveal how badly she wished to share the court with his idol sometime.

“Not really, but if I would play against Rafa, for sure I would ask for a T-shirt,” Swiatek said, presenting herself as a superfan before even counting herself as the WTA World No.1. Although there have been several moments when Swiatek got opportunities to see her idol in person but she wasn’t lucky enough to fulfill her desire of sharing the court with him.

As the Pole continues to move ahead in her career, her admiration for Rafa continues to grow, helping her move ahead to touch skies in the world of tennis.
