Something rare in the competitive world of tennis? Trios that often hang out on the tour, like Coco Gauff, Ben Shelton, and Frances Tiafoe. Earlier this month, Ben Shelton defeated Frances Tiafoe at the finals of the ATP Houston. After the loss, Tiafoe jokingly took a slight dig at Shelton, “Screw you, Ben.” A few weeks later, Tiafoe has snubbed both Gauff & Shelton for his dinner party!
Sitting down with Laura Robson of Sky Sports Tennis, Frances Tiafoe revealed his choices for a dinner party with 5 guests – 2 from WTA, 2 from ATP, and 1 celebrity. Frances Taifoe took some time initially and said, “Umm..from WTA Jessica Pegula, a good friend of hers.” He further stated that he’d pick one between Madison Keys and Sloane Stephens for the second spot from the WTA, although a listener might be expecting WTA’s World No. 3.

For the ATP, Tiafoe picked Nick Kyrgios and Gael Monfils from the ATP. From the celebrities, he chose Beyonce to give him company at his dinner party. These picks came as a surprise because Gauff and Shelton were expected to be on the list. Tiafoe shares a good camaraderie with Coco Gauff; after her US Open triumph Tiafoe stated that he admires her for what she has done as a 19-year-old. Tiafoe has also been spotted several times cheering for Coco Gauff from the stands.

Even with Ben Shelton, he shares quite a similar bond. They are more like ‘Brothers from another mother’ to each other. After his win in Houston, Shelton heaped praise on Tiafoe. He stated, “You have been such an inspiration to kids, people of color in our sport, just an amazing representation.” Fans now hope Gauff and Shelton get the call next time at Tiafoe’s dinner party.
Interestingly, Coco Gauff and Frances Tiafoe were once spotted attending Beyonce’s concert!

Last year, the two American tennis stars were seen enjoying their time off the court at Beyonce’s concert in Paris. Both the players attended the concert separately ahead of their French Open campaign in 2023. Gauff shared a few glimpses of that moment on her Instagram stories and captioned them “Amazing night. Thank you @Beyonce.” Frances Tiafoe also posted a picture from that concert on his Instagram stories, both players declaring themselves as part of the singer’s fandom, the ‘BeyHive’.
Coco Gauff, Ben Shelton, and Frances Tiafoe are now aiming to join hands to represent their nation at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Will all three tennis stars get the chance to represent their nation on the biggest stage of the sporting world? Probably they can have a discussion on their common goals for this year when they meet next at some other dinner party!
