Nick Kyrgios‘s recent comment about equal pay activism in professional tennis is not going well with the fans. Kyrgios didn’t like the idea of equal pay for ATP and WTA players in all the Grand Slam tournaments since he believed the format of men’s tennis offers longer matches. Kyrgios commented that he would only be supporting this decision if WTA and ATP draws were merged. However, fans are not at all pleased hearing Kyrgios’s comment on the matter.

Now Nick Kyrgios fans know that this Australian tennis player never shies away from speaking his mind. However, fans think his logic to oppose the decision of equal play wasn’t very fruitful. Recently a source posted Nick Kyrgios’s comment on the matter on their X (formerly Twitter) account. This source wrote- “Nick Kyrgios argues that it’s not fair for equal payment between best-of-three set matches and best-of-five set matches: “I played for four hours at the Australian Open, then Svitolina played for like 40 minutes and we both got paid the same”

Kyrgios didn’t stop there as he further added-“I am not talking about merging competition on the court, but merging the two governing bodies (ATP and WTA) that oversee the men’s and women’s professional tours. If we’re merging, you merge the draws, you merge everything.”

Fans drop angry comments on Kyrgios’s opinion about equal prize money for WTA and ATP players

Since a source shared Nick Kyrgios’s comment on the matter, the whole x (formerly Twitter)platform has been stormed by fans’ angry opinions. One fan commented- “That’s really the weakest argument against equal pay. If the ticket prices sold for the same, what difference would length of play make?” This person focused on the fact that the ATP charges more than WTA for matches, especially for men’s finals.

Therefore, the game length is an unimportant aspect of this matter. Another fan was spotted getting really mad at Kyrgios. He commented- “@NickKyrgios are you dribbling more crap? Who are you to make calls, when you play tennis not even once a year? SIT DOWN AND SHUTUP.”

Another person dropped Nick’s walkover scene from the semi-finals of men’s singles at the 2022 Wimbledon to know what he has to say about it.

People slammed Kyrgios’s habit of dragging his colleagues’ names into his comments- “The way he just tosses other people’s names about is the worst. He could make his point w/out doing so. It’s unnecessary and, imo, sounds like aggression or jealousy towards other players who’ve done nothing to him except, maybe, win a 250. Name the ppl who make the rules.” Almost everybody opposed his opinion calling it backdated.
