Nick Kyrgios Springs Out of Nowhere as Tennis Fans Left Baffled by His Presence at Coco Gauff and Alycia Parks Match

An all-American clash between Coco Gauff and Alycia Parks was going on at the Margaret Court Arena. In the third round of the Australian Open, the reigning Grand Slam champion currently had the edge over her unseeded compatriot. Even though the match has turned out to be an absolute entertainer, fans are still upset about something that has sprung out of nowhere.

Nick Kyrgios, who is away from the tennis court owing to his injury woes, is commentating on the match between the American WTA players. However, the Aussie tennis star’s presence as a commentator has left a flurry of fans baffled as they recently reacted on social media.

Fans react to Nick Kyrgios’ commentator role for Coco Gauff vs. Alycia Parks

A sports reporter, Lindsay Gibbs, recently took to Twitter to express her bafflement over the Australian ATP star’s commentator duties for the match between Coco Gauff and Alycia Parks. She tweeted, “Kyrgios is going to be calling Gauff/Parks?? I wonder if they’d ever have a women’s player super new to the booth call a men’s match?”

Reacting to the same, a flurry of fans flocked to the comments section, as they were quite upset over Kyrgios’ new stint. One user said, “How Kyrgios has rebranded himself into an analyst is beyond me. Really shows the state of things.”

Meanwhile, a fan opened up about being ‘disgusted beyond belief’ while suggesting that the Aussie shouldn’t be commentating for the Australian Open match between the WTA players. The user stated, “I’m disgusted beyond belief. My babies didn’t deserve this! In my opinion.”

A fan jokingly said Kyrgios has been given the commentating duties for her match because he is ‘friends’ with the current number 4 player, Gauff. The user said, “He’s friends with Coco. That’s probably why he’s assigned to that match.”

Similarly, another fan was left befuddled as she commented, “Escoo me??!!!!?!????”

While Kyrgios was in the commentator box, the 19-year-old thumped her compatriot Alycia Parks in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2, at the Margaret Court Arena. Gauff is on a roll at the Australian Open, as she has reached the fourth round without dropping a single set in the tournament. The fourth-seeded American will now lock horns with either Magdalena Frech or qualifier Anastasia Zakharova.
