Their bond faced its first test at the United Cup, where both were drawn into Group F. This raised the possibility of the newly engaged couple facing each other on the court. Boulter expressed her feelings on the matter, saying, “I don’t know about having a match against him, I think that’s going to be terrible, and a bit of a popcorn match. But yeah, let’s hope we don’t reach there and we win before.”

Thankfully, the showdown was avoided. Boulter defeated Olivia Gadecki 6-2, 6-1 in her singles match, helping Great Britain advance to the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, De Minaur’s team was knocked out, sparing them an awkward encounter on the court. Great Britain eventually lost to Poland in the quarters, ending their United Cup run.

Now, the couple is focusing on their preparations for the Australian Open. De Minaur comes into the tournament as the 8th seed, riding high after an impressive performance at the United Cup. Boulter, ranked 23rd, will also be hoping for a strong campaign at Melbourne Park.
