It’s “love all” for tennis stars this off-season! After Casper Ruud, Félix Auger-Aliassime and Alexei Popyrin, tennis couple Alex de Minaur and Katie Boulter have also joined the club of popping the question. The couple announced their engagement on Instagram on 23rd December after more than 4 years of dating. But the off-season lovefest is giving way to on-court rivalry. And the couple has mixed feelings!

The newly engaged pair will kick off their 2025 season as Great Britain faces Australia in the final Group F match of the United Cup in Perth on New Year’s Day. This crucial encounter will likely determine which nation advances to the knockout stage. Talking about this unique situation with SkySports, Boulter said, “I wouldn’t say I was thrilled at the idea of playing him all over again.”

“Obviously, he is a top 10 player, and he knows how to play tennis, so there’s one side of it, and there’s a personal side of it as well, which is difficult but also great for bragging rights, so I am looking forward to the match, of course. It would be a great atmosphere, and playing in Australia is always going to be fun. It’s another opportunity for us. We’re definitely the underdogs, so let’s put pressure on them.”

She also revealed whether she would be cheering for him or not. The answer will melt your hearts.!

She said, “But,no, I mean obviously I am always supporting him, I always support what he does. In the match it’s a very unique situation and something that I am not really used to. We are just trying to handle it the best we can. I will be supporting him every single time from the box for the rest of the year. We’ll see what happens.” For Alex De Minaur, it feels like déjà vu.

He said, “Yeah, I don’t know how to explain it. It’s almost surreal that it’s just a whole year later, and here we are again facing almost the same opponents. It’s going to be interesting once again, as last year was the case, and hopefully, we can play some good tennis.” Interestingly, this is their second time dealing with such a unique situation.

At the 2023 United Cup in Perth also there was a possibility of them facing each other. Both of them, however, did not play in the mixed singles category. The British tennis player defeated Ajla Tomljanović in the singles match while her now fiancé was defeated against her compatriot Cameron Norrie.

Despite these on-court squabbles, they have been going strong since 2020. Surprisingly, both are also making similar strides in their careers. Literally couple goals!

Alex de Minaur and Katie Boulter claim titles together in 2024

In March, Alex de Minaur and Katie Boulter gave tennis fans a double dose of excitement with their simultaneous wins. The 25-year-old player clinched the Mexican Open title by defeating Casper Ruud in straight sets before flying to San Diego to support Boulter, who secured the San Diego Open by besting Marta Kostyuk 5–7, 6–2, 6–2 for the trophy the very next day. However, the coincidence didn’t just stop there.

In the grass-court season in June, the Aussie-Brit couple synchronised their victories again. De Minaur dominated the finals in Hertogenbosch, defeating Sebastian Korda 6-2, 6-4 to win his second grass-court tour-level trophy. Just hours later, Boulter triumphed in the Nottingham Open, overcoming Karolina Pliskova 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 in a grueling final.
