It looks like after Maria Sharapova, Novak Djokovic has finally found a new bestie in tennis, Aryna Sabalenka. Throughout his journey as a professional tennis player, the Serbian player shared a great bond with the Russian beauty. There were multiple times when he used to imitate her. However, after her retirement, tennis fans missed the bond that they had. But, as it seems, the Serbian has been quick to find a new bestie and the two have had some great moments during the Australian Open.

Recently, after her win in the second round of the tournament, the Belarusian beauty came up with a strong message for the Serbian. She suggested asking him about his secret of winning 9 more Australian Open titles while taking a dig at his usual playing style.

Aryna Sabalenka and Novak Djokovic share a laugh at the Australian Open

After her victory at the Australian Open, Aryna Sabalenka had a cheeky moment in her interview, joking about seeking advice from Novak Djokovic on winning the tournament nine times. She mentioned that she would be extra nice to him and would tell him how to speed up his matches.

Not only this, she also suggested that she would not love to play a 4-hour long match, unlike the Serbian. “I need to ask him. I’m much nicer to him to make sure he’s gonna finish earlier.  I’m gonna ask him how to win Australian Open 9 times. I’ll tell you later if he’s gonna give me some advice,” said Sabalenka in the interview. After being asked if she would love to play long matches, she responded by saying, “no, no, no thanks.” 

What a moment of healthy banter between the two! While Sabalenka revealed that she would not want to play long matches, she would be curious to know the secret behind those 9 extra slams.

However, this is not the first time that anything of that sort has happened in the game. A few days ago, Sabalenka took a dig on the Serbian while the two took part in a charity event in Australia.

Sabalenka and Djokovic have shared multiple moments of laughter and banter

During a recent charity event match right before the start of the Australian Open, Djokovic and Sabalenka teamed up for a match. During the match, Sabalenka took a moment and took a dig at the booty shake that Djokovic was doing during the match.

“Wow, what a beautiful view I have,” said Sabalenka while further requesting the cameraman to zoom in if they could. There are other instances as well when the two have their own moments of fun and joy among them. Back in 2023, Sabalenka came ahead and revealed the funniest message that she received from the Serbian sensation.

It was the US Open last year and Aryna Sabalenka was about to be crowned as the number 1 player in the WTA after the end of the tournament. While the whole world congratulated Sabalenka for her unique milestone, the Serbian player came up with his own tactics and showed a unique way to wish her congratulations.

He sent her a meme that read that smile if you are the number 1 player in the world. Reflecting on it, Sabalenka, in an interview said that it was the best message that she has got from anyone. “The funniest 1 was from Djokovic. Bc he also will be world #1 after US Open. Someone mentioned us with funny sunglasses & he just sent me ‘Smile if you’ll become world #1.’ It was the funniest one” 

Ever since the retirement of Maria Sharapova from the sport, the fans missed their banter but little did they know that the Belarusian beauty will soon take up her spot and the fans would experience a whole new rivalry between the two.
