Firestorms have besieged L.A. County! More than 1,100 buildings have burned down and at least 5 people have lost their lives in these wildfires burning across the region, making these some of the most destructive firestorms to hit the region. After seeing the horrifying scenes in LA, tennis stars couldn’t stop themselves from expressing their concerns for those affected by this devastating disaster. Naomi Osaka, Mardy Fish, and Coco Gauff’s ex-coach joined hands to express their sadness over this situation in some of the most picturesque neighborhoods in the Los Angeles area.
Firefighters battle multiple blazes overnight as whipping winds with gusts up to 100 mph, fueled three major wildfires. Which three areas were affected, though? The Palisades fire burned more than 15,800 acres including a number of homes and landmarks around the Pacific Palisades and westward along Pacific Coast Highway along Malibu. The Eaton fire burned more than 10,000 acres and the Hurst fire caused havoc in around 700 acres in the area around Sylmar.
Fueled by the fierce Santa Ana winds, the blaze has wreaked havoc across the region in Pacific Palisades. Emergency teams have already stepped in with an aggressive response and these teams are utilizing both aerial and water drops and ground operations to combat the flames and mitigate damage. After seeing all these happening in the last few hours, Coco Gauff’s ex-coach Brad Gilbert came up with a tweet saying, “On the plane ✈️ now to Melbourne seeing the videos on X it is so scary 😱 what’s happening in palisades and Malibu, the winds were were brutal and unfortunately still are, anyone know how far up the PCH the fire 🔥 has gone into Malibu now, firefighters 🚒🙏 🙏🙏🙏 stay safe.”

Then the former American tennis player, Mardy Fish also stepped in to showcase his concern on social media. He tweeted, “Save the political crap. This is devastating and not even close to done. Winds going SouthWest at the moment. Brentwood/BelAir/Beverly Hills are OK for the moment but it will be another long night here in LA. Thank you to all the First Responders and Firefighters trying to save what they can. #LAFire 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽.” Truly horrifying scenes! Even Naomi Osaka came up with a post on Threads saying, “Hope everyone in LA is staying safe 🙏🏾.“
However, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen Naomi Osaka showcasing her concern during such a devastating incident. In 2020, when Australia’s devastating bushfires claimed at least 28 lives, destroyed over 2000 homes, and razed millions of hectares of wilderness, we saw Naomi Osaka joining several other top tennis players in Melbourne for a charity match to help relief efforts.
The Australian Open, ‘Rally for Relief’ raised around $3.4 million and we saw superstars like Roger Federer, Serena Williams, Novak Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal also joining hands with others like Naomi Osaka. However, who are the other tennis stars who joined Naomi Osaka to show their concern surrounding the recent LA wildfires?

She tweeted, “Fingers crossed for all, yikes. Winds up to 100 mph– holy c***.“
Maria Sharapova also shared a post on her IG stories with the caption, “💔.” Clearly, the tennis world has been concerned with what has been happening in LA over the last few hours. Serena Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian also weighed in, requesting his followers to take the situation seriously. He shared a post on social media saying, “PLEASE take this seriously, stay safe, and if you’re not in LA, check in on loved ones. The photos/updates I’m getting are gutting.“

Even Taylor Fritz’s girlfriend, Morgan Riddle was seen joining Ayan Broomfield (Frances Tiafoe’s girlfriend) to portray the same concern surrounding this devastating news. Riddle reposted a New York Times article and wrote, “The devastation of this in the morning is going to be breathtaking. So much loss.” Broomfield also shared a post on her social media, with the caption, “What is going on? Praying for everyone in LA right now.“
The situation is still a bit grim and many residents have already been shifted from those regions. These glimpses of concern shown by the tennis stars tell us how serious the situation is in LA at the moment. Share your thoughts on this in the comment box.
