“Make way for the Gauffs!” Coco Gauff’s family is the new talk of the sports town in America, and it’s not just because of Coco’s remarkable achievements on the tennis court. Now, her family is stepping into the limelight, showcasing their own athletic prowess and determination. The Gauff family’s long-standing association with sports is finally paying off, and they are all set to overtake the famed Korda family.
Both Kordas and Gauffs have athletic genes that have evolved over the years. Sebastian Korda is a sensational tennis player and Gauff’s compatriot. He has made some remarkable feats for himself, having reached the quarterfinal of the Australian Open and boasting an ATP ranking of 22. But his success is well attributed to his family’s legacy.
Sebastian was born to Petr Korda and Regina Rajchrtova, the power couple of the tennis arena. Petr Korda is the Australian Open winner and the French Open runner-up in both singles and doubles. He also reached a career-high ranking of World No. 2 and is one of the most respected players in American tennis. Besides, his mother is a former Czechoslovakian who achieved a career-high ranking of 26. She also represented her country at the 1988 Summer Olympics. The family’s athletic gene is evident in Sebastian Korda’s sisters as well.

Jessica Korda and Nelly Korda are both professional golf players and have garnered remarkable success in the sport. Jessica has won six LPGA events in her career and was ranked 6. Nelly won the Women’s PGA Championship twice in 2021 and 2024. Besides, she also reached the World No. 1 spot in the sport. But despite the family’s immense success, they are seemingly downcasted by the new and yet more vibrant athletic family of the Gauffs.

Coco Gauff has garnered immense success and is currently ranked No. 2 on the WTA circuit. She is also the reigning US Open Champion and has lifted the doubles title at the French Open this year. Gauff’s achievement can also be credited to his athletic background. Prior to Coco’s birth, her parents Corey and Candi were on the road to becoming professional athletes. Corey played basketball at Georgia State University. On the other hand, Candi was on the track and field team at Florida State University and her heptathlon performance in 1991 is still considered one of the best in FSU history.
The athletic gene is also extended to the other children of Gauff’s family. The three siblings were mandated to choose one sport and Codey jumbled through a few. He initially started playing football and basketball and ultimately arrived at baseball. Currently, he represents the San Diego Padres Scout Team as a catcher. He has often played sensational roles for his team and helped them win matches, as evidenced by his mother’s Instagram posts. While he reached his ultimate aim a little late, Corey is all praise for his children. “Coco chose what she wanted to do very early on. Codey played football for a little bit and some basketball, kind of arriving at baseball a little bit later in life than Coco did with tennis, but they both worked really hard growing up.”

Cameroon, the youngest member of the family, has also followed in his sister’s footsteps. He balances multiple sports, including football and tennis. And the father of the children cannot help being elated. “It’s been good to see them grow up and compete in the sports that they love while also keeping their academics first,” Corey added. Their continuous growth is surely on the verge of making them one of the best athletic families in the United States. And this background has also helped the siblings share some remarkable advice.
How did Codey Gauff help sister Coco Gauff win at major events?
Codey and Coco are one of the best athletic siblings. Coco has benefitted immensely from the advice of her younger brother and has often shared her love for her siblings in words that resonate with her true sentiments. “Those relationships are incredibly important to me.”

When quizzed about what she thinks on the court and how it works, Gauff claimed to “Have fun and relax.” Continuing further, she said, “I think as you get later, the trophy obviously gets closer and closer. You have to treat it that it’s as far away as it is if you’re in the first round. That’s what I approached that final with. I didn’t approach it as I just need to win two sets and I have it. I approached it as I need to win seven matches again and then I’ll get it. It was actually something my brother told me, which is crazy.”
Indeed, it is crazy for a teenager of Codey’s age to have such a detailed understanding of sports and give such brilliant advice. As the sports arena evolves, it will be fascinating to see how soon the Gauff family outshines their Korda counterparts to become the best athletic family in the country.
