The Swiss Maestro Roger Federer recently ended his illustrious tennis career. The 41-year-old will go down as one of the greatest tennis players in history. While Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal keep on adding Grand Slam titles and have already surpassed Federer, the love for Federer is different. While people mostly speak about records in sports, it can be safely said that Federer has earned much more love than any other tennis player. Now that he has quit tennis, the biggest question is what’s next? Well, Martina Navratilova just gave an interesting answer to that question.

Roger Federer for the President?

In a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, Martina Navratilova was talking about the future roles legends like Roger Federer and Serena Williams can take up. While the 18-time Grand Slam champion herself is still active in the tennis circuit, she believes that Serena and Roger need not do anything related to tennis, as their reach is broader and they are global superstars.

Adding more praise to the legendary Swiss tennis star, Navratilova said, “Serena’s talking about getting involved in ventures targeting women of color in business; Roger could be an ambassador, or maybe president. And it might not be Switzerland, either! The world is their oyster. They can do whatever they want.”

Federer, as of now, has shown no interest in entering politics. However, we, unlike Navratilova, hope to see the 20-time Grand Slam champion with a tennis racket in hand, be it in any capacity. The court is where he truly belongs.

Another legend believes Federer is an ambassador of tennis

As Navratilova said, Serena and Federer are not limited to a particular country. They are global stars and represent tennis as ambassadors in the world. The former German tennis star Boris Becker also shares a similar opinion.

Recently, the former world number one claimed that even after winning more Grand Slam titles, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal can never replace Federer as the face of tennis in the world. In fact, he added Federer can also be the ambassador of sports in general and not just tennis.
