Love is always in the air for the tennis power couple Elina Svitolina and Gael Monfils. The couple has been together since 2018 and their bond continues to get stronger. They can almost always be spotted in each other’s boxes when they are on the court. Svitolina and Monfils had their first child in October 2022 after tying the knot the year before.
Parenting comes with its prices. The duo now spends more time off the court than on the court. However, the extra time spent together also leads to the strengthening of the relationship. The recent posts of Elina Svitolina do suggest that.

The Ukrainian posted a picture with her husband on Instagram. Monfils lifted his wife in his arms while the couple stood on a grass court apparently after one of the practice sessions. Svitolina’s caption read, “Sometimes I’m just like… I need a hug“. She also came up with a humorous repost on her Instagram story. The repost had a new caption which said, “When you realize it’s Monday tomorrow”, referring to the caption of her post.

Aside from the loving display, there was something alarming about the picture, particularly for the Svitolina fans. The Ukrainian’s right leg’s ankle was taped which did suggest a potential injury, albeit minor if she is able to train.
Is Elina Svitolina injured?
While there has been no official word with respect to an injury, Svitolina playing only one grass lead-up tournament in three weeks could raise some questions. For someone who is known for entering tournaments almost every week, this was a rather strange decision. After a comprehensive defeat against Linda Fruhvirtova in the first round of Birmingham, Svitolina has not played any tennis. She is not scheduled to play this week either meaning that her next tournament is going to be Wimbledon.

An injury at this stage would be a huge blow for the Ukrainian as she was just starting to find her form. After her return from pregnancy, she struggled to win matches but a title in Strasbourg followed by a quarter-final run at the Roland Garros was very assuring for the world number 75 as she registered nine wins on the bounce.
