Further, at the ongoing Australian Open, the two are stealing the spotlight after putting on some thrilling performances to dig deep in the tournament. As the power couple advanced at the Grand Slam Down Under, they received some heartwarming messages from the tennis world, including one from Katie Boulter.
Earlier today, Monfils and Svitolina notched up thrilling wins at the Margaret Court Arena. While the Frenchman was the first to go up. He defeated Taylor Fritz to advance to the pre-quarterfinals. Subsequently, Svitolina followed it up by shocking Jasmine Paolini and even inflicting a bagel on her in the deciding set.
Further, what was interesting to note was that both Monfils and Svitolina supported each other during their huge wins today and took inspiration from each other on the court. After Svitolina notched up the win over Paolini, social media was abuzz with praises for the duo of Monfils and Svitolina. The Tennis Letter’s official Twitter handle shared a wonderful post in tribute to the two, which invited a heartfelt message from Katie Boulter. She retweeted the post, writing, “Forever OGs.”

Additionally, Svitolina also shared a wonderful message for her husband after upsetting Paolini. During the post-match interview, she stated, “Well, it was a crazy battle today. I would want to say that I got inspired after my husband’s win. I watched a little bit, of course it was tough to miss it. But to be fair, I played so bad the first set, I don’t know if I was inspired!”

Interestingly, it wasn’t just Monfils who inspired Svitolina to perform to her best in her match against the Italian star. It was a special occasion in Svitolina’s team which was made even more special after her win.

Svitolina is currently coached by Andy Bettles, who is her long-time coach. The two share a wonderful relationship which has brought her much success on the tennis court. Interestingly, Bettles was celebrating his birthday today when Svitolina faced Paolini. Later, in the interview, Svitolina pointed out this fact and how she wanted to emerge triumphant on this special occasion.

The Ukrainian star mentioned, “As I said, my start [to the match] was not great and I felt really bad on the court today. It’s my coach’s birthday today so I wouldn’t be so proud if I would finish the match playing that way. I was just trying to really put a lot of fight there and stay as long as I can because the first set went really quick to Jasmine. Just [wanted to] really fight and try to move my legs as quick as possible.”
The duo of Monfils and Svitolina would look to continue their giant-killing run in the tournament. While the Frenchman will face Ben Shelton, Svitolina will play her fourth-round match against Veronika Kudermetova.
