A new twist fuels the excitement in Jannik Sinner‘s case. After facing a series of backlashes, Sinner’s case is heading to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) following an appeal by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). A British WTA star, who previously criticized the ATP No. 1’s judgment, now offers a fresh perspective, raising a question for everyone: Does Sinner deserve a harsher punishment?
Previously in June, this Briton accused the authorities of double standards after Sinner tested positive for Clostebol in two drug tests but was still allowed to compete in the 2024 Miami Open. “I guess only the top players’ images matter, I guess only the independent tribunal’s opinion on the top players is taken as sound and right. Yet, they question them in my case. Just makes no sense,” she tweeted on X. Now Moore is back with another take on the case.
Mentioning the ITIA’s different behavior for different players, Moore revealed how “this wouldn’t of happened” if “the ITIA had to follow the same protocol for everyone.” Moore’s opinion has sparked discussions on social media, prompting people to share their views. She believes that WADA’s full involvement could bring a more stringent and unbiased judgment to the case.

It’s not the fault of Jannik that this is being appealed. It’s the ITIA. WADA is seeing the inconsistencies from this to other cases and are asking for those gaps to be filled. If the ITIA had to follow the same protocol for everyone and he was cleared, this wouldn’t of happened https://t.co/aGA6V9pWEA

While many thought Sinner’s matter was resolved after the withdrawal of his 2024 Indian Wells prize money and a brief suspension, things took a different turn when WADA appealed the verdict to the CAS, citing inconsistencies in the process.
“It is WADA’s view that the finding of “no fault or negligence” was not correct under the applicable rules. WADA is seeking a period of ineligibility of between one and two years. WADA is not seeking a disqualification of any results, save that which has already been imposed by the tribunal of first instance,” the committee mentioned in their statement.
On the other hand, Moore tested positive for nandrolone metabolite and boldenone in 2022. In December last year, a panel ruled in her favor, determining that contaminated meat was the source of the banned substances in her system. Despite this, Moore endured a year-long suspension after losing a WTA 250 event in Colombia.

While Moore’s statement expressed her support for WADA’s appeal, Sinner responded with a surprising reaction.
Jannik Sinner reveals “not expecting” WADA’s appeal
WADA’s appeal has brought a new twist to Sinner’s doping case. “Disappointed and also surprised” Sinner has offered his feelings on the matter. “Obviously, I’m very disappointed and also surprised of this appeal, to be honest, because we had three hearings. All three hearings came out very positively for me. You know, I was not expecting it. I knew it couple of days ago, that they were going to appeal, that today it’s going to go official, so … it’s surprise. Maybe they just want to make sure that everything is in the right position,” he said.

Sinner maintained his humble demeanor while expressing frustration over the appeal, clearly not expecting this sudden turn of events. Now, he will wait to learn his future once the final verdict is issued.
Tara Moore’s statement highlighted that many players were unhappy with the outcome of Sinner’s anti-doping test failures. However, they also acknowledged that the Italian had no direct control over the situation. While anger brewed on social media, WADA’s appeal has brought hope for a more definitive solution. With CAS now involved, Sinner will soon learn his ultimate fate in the sport.
