Iga Swiatek talks about playing in the night session at the French Open 2022
After her fourth-round match against Qinwen Zheng, Swiatek talked about the night session at the French Open. “Well, honestly I think it’s great for fans. For us, for sure, it’s tough, I’m not gonna lie, because next day when we are going to sleep at 4:00 a.m. or 3:00 a.m. are pretty tough,” Swiatek said regarding the night session.
“But on Grand Slams we have time to recover usually, and they are scheduling us pretty smart way usually. So I didn’t really know that they are scheduling ATP matches at that hour. But, yeah, I would be okay with playing a night session like that, but it’s never comfortable, you know, because you have to change the routine, yeah,” she further added about playing during the night.
It is worth noting that the French Open introduced night sessions this year, possibly to attract more fans. Earlier, Rafael Nadal complained about the heavier conditions during the night. But one thing is certain, many fans turned up in massive numbers to watch the matches during the night session.
Swiatek creates another record
Night session or not, Swiatek looks unstoppable at the moment, as she won her quarter-final match against Pegula. With this win, she has now won 33 consecutive matches on the tour. Now, she moved to the third spot with the longest win streak since 2000.
