The US Open 2021 is less than a week away now and fans seem pretty excited about the tournament. Despite not playing tennis for about a month now, World No.1 Novak Djokovic will begin as the favorite at the Grand Slam . Interestingly, he will be chasing a very unique record at the Grand Slam this year.
Novak Djokovic missed the Golden Slam after Alexander Zverev defeated him at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. However, the Serbian legend still has a chance of accomplishing the Calendar Slam this year if he succeeds at the US Open 2021.
In a recent interview, 4-time Grand Slam doubles champion, Rennae Stubbs, revealed what tennis legend Steffi Graf texted her regarding Djokovic. She mentioned that the 22-time Grand Slam winner really wants Nole to win the Calendar Slam this year.

“I know we don’t really hear from Steffi very much because she is so anti doing anything when it comes to her face near being any television, but I have texted her about this. She said I really hope he does it. It’ll be great for him and it’ll be great for tennis,” said Stubbs in the interview.
Steffi Graff is the only tennis player- male or female- who have achieved the Golden Slam in the sport. Thus, it is quite intriguing that she wants Nole to accomplish the Calendar Slam Slam this year. She believes that it will not just be great for him but for tennis as well.

Novak Djokovic can create history at the US Open 2021
Djokovic will not only win Calendar Slam if he succeeds at the US Open 2021, but he will also become the male player with the most number of Grand Slam titles- surpassing both his arch-rivals, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.
In addition, he can also become the first player to win the Calendar Slam in the 21st century. Before him, only 11-time Grand Slam winner, Rod Laver, managed to achieve the feat in 1969 in the Open Era.
