Naomi Osaka is currently gearing up for her comeback at the Indian Wells 2024. Amid the anticipation of her return journey, a surprising revelation made its way on social media. In a candid video, the WTA star expressed deep gratitude towards Andy Murray, highlighting the support that he kept beside Osaka, throughout her journey. Osaka mentioned, “He’s always been super friendly to me… Whenever we’d bump into each other he’d say hi because obviously I’m too shy to say hi.”

The four-time major winner’s journey hasn’t been without its challenges, especially after welcoming her daughter, Shai, last year. Recent tournaments like the Australian Open and Abu Dhabi Open brought a tough time for her as she had to face early exits, but she bounced back, reaching the quarterfinals in Doha.

As Osaka recalls Murray’s supportive gestures, mentioning, “I feel like he’s in a way always checking on me, especially when all the hard stuff happens,” it is sure that she has a firm backing to step back in the game.

Osaka feels like home in Indian Wells

Besides expressing the depth of the bond shared with Andy Murray, Naomi Osaka also gave out her feeling of being at home in her Indian Wells presence. The tennis star, who had to skip the tournament because of her maternity break last year, mentioned, “It’s nice to get in the car and be able to drive here.”

Along with that, she also talked about bringing her daughter to be around her, saying, “And I brought my daughter, so coming back home and seeing her is new, but it’s nice. It does feel a little bit like home.” As the Japanese WTA star is set to begin her run for the highly anticipated tournament, it remains to be seen how she will perform this time.
