Ben Shelton and Emma Navarro defeated Holger Rune and Caroline Wozniacki in the semifinals of the Eisenhower Cup by 10-5 in the Tie Break Tens. But more than the victory, the funny episode involving Shelton’s wicked kick-serve aiming at Caroline Wozniacki made the headlines the next day. Relating to that incident, Ben Shelton recently took to X(formerly Twitter) to issue an apology to the former world number one. He wrote, “Sorry Caroline Wozniacki.

The two rising stars of American tennis who are also in fact two former NCAA College Champions toppled all the other teams in the tournament to win the tournament. Ben Shelton and Emma Navarro bagged $200,000 in total prize money. All proceeds from it will be donated to the official charity of the BNP Paribas Open.

After the match both the Americans looked ecstatic with their victory during the press conference. Ben Shelton said, “As soon as I saw that I was paired up with her [Emma] and I saw the tear that she’s been on lately. All she does is win, so I knew we had a pretty good chance tonight, so shout out Emma Navarro!

While his teammate, Emma Navarro added, “Coming back to America after being overseas for a while. And getting to play in front of the American fans and just here on the American soil it’s really awesome. There’s a different feel here, and it’s just really special being able to play in front of you guys.” Both of them revealed that they had enjoyed playing at the event and also admitted that they got along pretty well.
