This very sentiment is echoed in the recent revelation by Frances Tiafoe’s Canadian girlfriend, Ayan Broomfield, who opened up about her own struggles. “I was in a really crappy place.”

The Canadian tennis player took to her Instagram story on Tuesday, to reveal the mental challenges that she was subjected to “a few weeks ago.” She shared a picture of herself in a gorgeous black gown, which according to Broomfield, is the most unique dress she has worn so far. While she openly expressed her happiness, she did not fail to touch upon the emotional difficulties that she was exposed to.

Captioning her photo, Broomfield revealed the learnings amid the difficulties. “A few weeks ago I was in a really crappy place. A roller coaster of emotions. Life will throw so many things at you, often all at once.” Continuing further, the Canadian player expressed her belief in God and how it helped to overcome the challenges. She also advised people to believe in their potential.

“But if I have learned anything from this past month, it is that god will never give you more than you can handle. Stay the course, be kind, and keep believing in yourself. Believe that you are strong enough, believe that you are good enough, and believe that at the end of the day, you are one of one.” While the 26-year-old did not reveal the challenges that she faced, this is not the first time that she has been exposed to such situations.

Ayan Broomfield has remained off the tennis courts for a very long time now. While she is creating content around tennis, her return as a player seems to be far. Speaking to Forbes in a previous interview, the Canadian highlighted the challenges she faced in her career. “COVID hit and derailed everything for me. I moved to Florida and was training a lot. I had injury after injury, and I didn’t know if this was something I could do full-time on court.” Despite being away from the country herself, Broomfield is Tiafoe’s biggest cheerleader.

In an interview featured on ATPTour.com, Broomfield spoke about her tennis knowledge and how it helps Tiafoe too. “We can talk about tennis. I mean, I played tennis myself. So even just when we’re seeing the draw, and we kind of look at certain players, sometimes I can act as a sounding board for matches,” Broomfield said. “Not to say that he takes my advice, but it’s nice to be able to chat about it and strategy. I just feel like we just understand it and what it takes for someone to go and be able to compete at the highest level.”
