The ongoing French Open tour has brought new favorites to the fraternity. Lacoste’s famous CEO, Theirry Guilbert is not an exception to that. Known to have a liking for their brand ambassador Novak Djokovic, Theirry Guilbert takes another turn and surprises his fans by choosing two bright and young tennis personalities for Paris.

Lacoste’s CEO, Thiery Guilbert recently took his official X platform to share his new favorites ahead of the French Open 2024 finals. “My favorites for the win now on: Alexander Zverev @AlexZverev Aryna Sabalenka @SabalenkaA Let’s see!”- tweeted Guilbert. Right after the tweet was made, it stormed social media. This is because the CEO of this famous luxury brand has been an established Novak Djokovic fan.

Last year, Guilbert surprised his fans when he said that despite respecting Rafael Nadal, his brand would never work with him. He added further that Lacoste is proud to have Novak Djokovic as their brand ambassador who signed the deal with the crocodile brand in 2021. Not just that but this deal will continue till the next year. “Lacoste is so proud to have Nole and would never choose Nadal (with all due respect to him)”- he tweeted. Guilbert commented against Nike’s former tennis director, who said Djokovic’s habit of falling into endless controversies hurt their brand image. Nevertheless, Lacoste’s CEO proved that he would choose Novak over anyone as his favorite tennis player.

Lacoste’s CEO’s comment stormed the internet because his recent ATP and WTA picks surprised his fans. However, he can’t be blamed for this decision. People who witnessed this Italian Open winner’s match against Holge Rune yesterday would surely understand how Zverev brought many people into his league with his brilliant performance.

Zverev pulled off an amazing five-set match against Rune in the Philippe Chatrier court yesterday. He defeated the Danish ATP star by 4-6, 6-1, 5-7, 7(7)-6(2), and 6-2. On the other hand, Sabalenka stunned Emma Navarro with her amazing performance and defeated her by 6-2 and 6-3 to enter the quarterfinals. There is no doubt that like Lacoste’s CEO, a lot of people are rooting for these two tennis geniuses.

Nevertheless, Theirry Guilbert’s latest favorites came as a shock for many. After all, they couldn’t forget how the Lacoste CEO unleashed unnecessary criticism on Tsistsipas last year to back up his brand ambassador, Novak Djokovic.

Lacoste CEO unleashes his anger on Tsitsipas to back up Djokovic in ATP Turin

Last year the ATP Tour saw an unexpected result as Tsitsipas withdrew from the tour following his injury. Despite revealing that, this Greek ATP star fell under criticism that he played for money and continued till three games, which brought him $75,000. While Tsitsipas’s exit brought a chance for Djokovic to secure a space in the finals but he ultimately lost to Jannik Sinner.
