“And then that was the end for me,” said Katie Boulter about how her relationship with Alex De Minaur began. The tennis power couple’s individual journey in tennis has been nothing short of remarkable. On hand, the British No. 1 female player is gearing up for her semifinal match at the Nottingham Open. On the other hand, her boyfriend, De Minaur, is all set to swing his racquet in the semifinal match in the Netherlands. However, as they continue to make their mark in the tennis world, one question captures the minds of many fans. When did the sparks start to fly between the two?

After appearing for an interview with Tatler, Katie Boulter spilled the beans on how their relationship began. The 27-year-old player revealed that it all started four years ago. “On the tennis tour, you see a lot of people, but you don’t necessarily know them. They were on ‘Hi, bye’ terms. Then one-day de Minaur asked Boulter out for a coffee date – ‘and that was the end for me,” she said, followed by laughter. However, there was a catch!

Earlier this year, Alex De Minaur revealed, “The first time I asked her out, she straight up said no. That was tough to take, but being the persistent person that I am, I asked again and she said maybe. So we went with that, and here we are.” Nevertheless, the couple soon hit it off with each other and made their relationship official in 2021 through an Instagram post, celebrating their one-year anniversary.

Since 2020, both have endured the ups and downs in their careers with grace. According to the 25-year-old player, Boulter has helped him see a life beyond the tennis circuit. When it comes to staying apart due to their professional commitments, Boulter also mentioned how they remain connected via FaceTime. But according to Boulter, most of the time they try to “follow the same continents” so that they can be in the “same time zones.”

However, when it comes to spending time off the court, they are often found vacationing together. Last year, it was Capri, which later became Boulter’s favorite holiday destination. Further adding about their current dynamic, Katie said, “We’re on the same wavelength when it comes to our priorities. Tennis is where we want to be–and the rest will follow.”

Their respect and love for each other often remind the tennis world of the legendary power couples that have conquered the hearts of fans. Be it Roger and Mirka Federer, Andre Agassi, and Steffi Graf, the list goes on. With the help of their supportive partners, they have reached greater heights in tennis. When it comes to supporting each other, Alex De Minaur and Katie Boulter are also not an exception!
