Once upon a time, Andy Murray was right up there with the best. He is still competing at a very high level; yet, he was one of the best, if not the best in his prime. There was a stage when the ‘big-three’ was actually the ‘big-four’. Nonetheless, Murray’s efforts for tennis on and off the court can never be forgotten. He is undoubtedly a global ambassador for the sport.

The British champion has undergone so many trying times in his career. He has fallen prey to multiple injury concerns with his body. In spite of so many adversities, the former World No.1 has carved out an absolutely glittering career for himself. Winning 3 Grand Slams and 2 Olympic gold medals, he has engraved his name in the history books. So many people have been inspired by Glasgow’s warrior, the biggest of them all being the women’s World No.1 Ashleigh Barty.

There is no doubt that both Murray and Barty have tremendous respect for each other. In fact, the duo were close to playing mixed doubles at the 2019 Wimbledon, before the Australian declined due to a tight schedule. Regardless, she has always been in awe of the Brit. In a recent interview at the Western and Southern Open, she detailed the impact that Murray has had on the game.

“My compliment is for Andy Murray. He is an incredible champion. I think the adversity that he’s gone through in his career, the way that he’s fought for us as WTA players; his mum has raised an incredible man. I hope that he can hold on, be healthy and win a few more big match yet,”?hoped the defending Wimbledon champion.
