Almost four years ago, Matteo Berrettini and Ajla Tomljanović made headlines with their romantic relationship. However, there was trouble in paradise for the power couple in 2022 when their wholesome relationship started to deteriorate. The tennis pair ultimately made the decision to part ways, as they previously confessed in the Netflix docuseries “Break Point,” when their relationship didn’t work out.
But sooner than they would have liked, Berrettini and Tomljanovic were destined to once again cross paths. And it happened during the ongoing Grand Slam event in New York, where the former tennis couple recently got caught up in an awkward encounter.

According to an exclusive report from Page Six, the former tennis couple had an unpleasant run-in at an off-court event of the US Open. During the weekend, Matteo Berrettini and Ajla Tomljanović crossed paths at the cocktail party of the Grand Slam event that took place at the Park Lane Hotel in New York.
There was a lot of drama and tension, as the former tennis pair had no idea that they both were guests at the same hotel. Things turned out to be pretty awkward at the party when the two tennis stars began exchanging accusatory looks. The former tennis couple further had to be placed on opposite sides of the location in order to prevent any heated argument or feud.
Even during the meet-and-greet, the Aussie did her best to stay away from her former partner. The report stated, “[Berrettini] left the party. The tensions were really high and the awkwardness was so intense”.
Along with such recent reports, this season’s US Open also turned out to be a disaster for the Italian who suffered devastating on-court woes.

Berrettini didn’t have memorable outing on the court either
The 27-year-old, who faced a number of initial round defeats this season, has been struggling to perform at his optimum levels owing to his injury woes. Adding to his list of troubles, the ATP player picked up a devastating ankle injury during his second-round match at the US Open. While playing the Frenchman, Arthur Rinderknech, the former world No. 6 rolled his ankle and was heard screaming in anguish on the court. Later, Berrettini was also forced to leave the court in a wheelchair as he was unable to walk due to the severity of the injury.
