Chris Evert, the six-time US Open champion, recently shared an emotional tweet for her friend, Boris Becker. Becker received a 30-month prison sentence in April. A fast-track deportation program for foreign nationals allowed Becker to be freed early. Otherwise, he would have had to serve out the entirety of his sentence before being qualified for release.

The 18-time Grand Slam champion along with Andre Agassi’s former coach, Daren Cahill, penned down an emotional tweet for Becker. He wished to see Becker get back into tennis in some form or other.

At the age of 31, Becker concluded an accomplished career that included six Grand Slam victories. After that, he worked as a tennis analyst and commentator before beginning to mentor the former World No. 1 Novak Djokovic in 2014. Chris Evert noted Becker had properly paid his dues in a retweet of Cahill’s sentiments. She is certain that his early release had at least some positive aspects.
Becker had been convicted of four insolvency-related offenses by London’s Southwark Crown Court. The German had denied all the accusations. He shared that he cooperated with the trustees entrusted with looking after his assets. He would have typically been eligible for parole after serving at least 15 months. However, he was released to relieve pressure on Britain’s overcrowded jails.

Becker faced many challenges in the UK prison. However, the most dangerous of the threats made him fear for his life. During his interview with SAT.1 which was reported by the Express UK, the 55-year-old made alarming revelations regarding a prisoner who planned to harm him. He received a significant six-figure sum for doing interview upon his return to Germany.
