As it is said- life is just like riding a bicycle and one must keep moving. Talking about moving, the 37-year-old French tennis player Gael Monfils is still moving quite well, as he made a sensational comeback with his wife Elina Svitolina in 2023. On October 15 last year, the tennis power couple welcomed their first child, Skai. Since then the couple has been found figuring out formulas to maintain a balance between their careers and parenthood.

In October this year, Monfils became the oldest player to win the Stockholm Open. Even his wife Elina Svitolina made a stellar comeback by winning a WTA Tour title and reaching the QF and SF of the French Open and Wimbledon, respectively. Traveling constantly is never easy, especially when it comes to leaving your small daughter at home. Recently, Monfils revealed his experience of entering the same tournament with his wife, Svitolina.

Both Svitolina and Monfils are set to compete at the ASB Classic in Auckland next year. Being a family man gives rise to various challenges even to professional players. A few days back Monfils revealed how Svitolina and his agent Nicolas Lamperin supported him throughout his journey. When Monfils is playing, Svitolina takes care of their child and when Svitolina is playing, the husband takes over the duty. But what happens when both of them are playing?

Gael Monfils said it’s good for family time but at the same time it’s like playing two matches instead of one. Here’s what he said, “The good part is that we can spend more time together, especially now with our daughter, it’s so much easier. But it brings a bit more stress because we always want the other one to play good. So it’s like you play two matches, instead of one. For both of us, it’s a big help. We have huge support, & we can rely on each other, so that’s a big boost.

The former number 3 in women’s singles has already made a mark on her comeback. She’s surely going to be a top contender for the major titles next season. But what about the 37YO Gael Monfils? Well, he said although he’s quite content with his life, he isn’t ready to take a call on his career.
