Even before the start of the French Open, dark clouds were hovering over Paris—quite literally! The past week has seen the city experience untimely rain showers that have caused a scheduling mess at the ongoing French Open. While play has continued on the main courts due to the availability of roofs, the outside courts have seen numerous matches get postponed. The story continued today, as Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa became the latest victims of the rain gods.

The dream mixed doubles pair was scheduled to play their opening round match later today. However, the weather hasn’t favored the tennis fans, as Tsitsipas and Badosa’s mixed doubles encounter has been postponed. Minutes ago, an update dropped on social media that all the doubles matches that were to take place today had been canceled due to rain.

The power couple was due to face Ena Shibahara of Japan and Nathaniel Lammons of the United States. Fans were in great anticipation to witness the dream reunion of Tsitsidosa, but the wait continues to get longer due to untimely rainfall. Not only will the fans have to wait, but also Tsitsipas and Badosa, who have been eager to play with each other.

Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa can’t wait to team up

As soon as the mixed doubles draw was announced for the French Open, one team that caught the attention of the fans was Tsitsidosa. The duo has had an eventful time on and off the court and even broke off with each other for a brief period recently. However, all’s well that ends well, and the two are back together, both in personal life as well as on the tennis court.

Explaining his decision to team up with his girlfriend, Tsitsipas said, “Paris holds a special place for me and Paula; that’s where we had our first date right before Roland-Garros last year; our anniversary occurs here, so for us it was a no-brainer to play our first mixed doubles in Roland-Garros.”

On the other hand, Badosa had a cheeky response to playing together with Tsitsipas, saying, He will work for me, so I don’t have to run much. It’s good to practice.” Indeed, it would be a treat to watch Tsitsipas and Badosa play together after such a long time. They last played mixed doubles together at the World Tennis League match, which they won. Thus, the power couple would like history to repeat itself and get off to a winning start here in Paris. However, before that, they would like the rain gods to stay away so that the schedule of play isn’t affected further tomorrow.
