The controversial disqualification of the women’s doubles pair of Miyu Kato and Aldila Sutjiadi from their third-round match at the French Open is still continuing to attract attention from the tennis world. The dubious nature of the incident raised question marks on the fairness of the decision. In its aftermath, discussions among fans and experts have been rife. The situation was even compared to a similar incident involving Roger Federer from Monte Carlo in 2014, using a clip that was doing the rounds on Twitter following the doubles pair’s defaulting at Roland Garros.
Now, Nick Kyrgios, a controversial character in tennis himself, has joined the bandwagon to express his thoughts regarding the situation. This time, the Swiss maestro has been used as a point of reference yet again.

Nick Kyrgios uses Roger Federer reference to weigh in on defaulting incident at French Open
In an attempt to put the ball out of the court, Japan’s Miyu Kato inadvertently hit one of the ball girls who seemingly wasn’t ready to catch the ball, during her 3rd round women’s doubles match at Roland Garros. Kato and Sutjiadi were forced to forfeit their match by the officials, following appeals by their opponents. Twenty-eight-year-old Australian Nick Kyrgios was the latest to have his say regarding this incident. He quote-tweeted a short video compilation of Roger Federer zipping balls at ball kids in different matches of his career, drawing a reference to the controversy at the French Open.
Hahaha now it gets ridiculous. The 🐐having some fun and the ball kids are catching it, making their life memory compared to outeide doubles match. Absurd 😂 https://t.co/g9RPjJBo85

Kyrgios’ caption read, “Hahaha now it gets ridiculous. The🐐 having some fun and the ball kids are catching it, making their life memory compared to outside doubles match. Absurd 😂”. Roger Federer interacted with the ball kids several times during his matches by tossing the balls toward them to test their catching skills, thereby making the kids a part of his matches. On the other hand, Nick Kyrgios himself wasn’t devoid of controversies in his career either.

The Australian’s career has been riddled with on and off-court controversies. From abusing umpires and creating a ruckus over the color of towels to spitting at a spectator and demanding booze on the court, he has done it all. The 28-year-old found himself in hot water on multiple instances owing to his volatile character.
One of his most embarrassing acts came when he almost hit a ball boy with his racquet after a quarter-final defeat against Rafael Nadal at last year’s Indian Wells. He apologized to the kid later on. Therefore, it was interesting to hear his thoughts on the defaulting incident at the French Open.
