Nick Kyrgios has been one of the most outspoken players on the tour, especially when it comes to mental health. The Aussie ace alongside the likes of Naomi Osaka and Bianca Andreescu has been vocal about his mental issues. These players have certainly played a huge role in building awareness around mental health issues. As far as Kyrgios is concerned, he hit rock bottom four years ago. Kyrgios’ mental health improves tenfold
It was his better half Costeen Hatzi who played the most crucial role. The couple has been together since December 2021 and three months into their relationship, Kyrgios was already in a much better place. He put up an update on Instagram last year to assure his fans that he was indeed doing better. Hatzi has been by his side through thick and thin. She suffered with him during the tough times and now the couple is stronger than ever.

In one of his recent Instagram stories, Kyrgios appreciated Costeen Hatzi for staying by his side through thick and thin. He said, “No matter what gets thrown (at) me she puts laughter and fun in my life” along with a picture of Hatzi. The Aussie ace has come a long way from contemplating his life and thinking of suicide back in 2019.
When Nick Kyrgios contemplated suicide
The Aussie made certain stunning revelations in the Netflix docuseries ‘Break Point. He went back to 2019, where he lost to Rafael Nadal in a close Wimbledon 2nd round encounter. Kyrgios said, “I was genuinely contemplating if I wanted to commit suicide. I woke up and my dad was sitting on the bed, full-blown crying. That was the big wake-up call for me. I was like, okay, I can’t keep doing this. I ended up in a psych ward in London to figure out my problems.”
Kyrgios had also revealed that he was wearing full sleeves to the match to cover the self-harm marks.

The results not going his way despite putting up his best level really affected his well-being. His family being upset only made things worse for the Aussie ace.
