Iga Swiatek is currently ranked no.1 by the WTA and has been a dominant force in tennis known for her powerful groundstrokes and her impressive footwork. On the other hand, American rising star Ben Shelton currently stands at his career-high ranking of no. 39. Ben is rising up the ranks over the past few years and his consistent performance shows his potential to become one of the sport’s top players. Incidentally, Ben is now the first male tennis player to have been sponsored by On.

Federer himself welcomes both these young talents with a warm greeting as he says, “Iga and Ben represent the next generation of world-class talent. Both players demonstrate On’s competitive spirit and embody current and future champions of the sport. We are pleased to welcome them to the On family.”

As per the official statement released by the brand, Swiatek expressed her emotions about this new collaboration as she said, “I’m very excited to be the first female tennis player to join On. Their core values are what connects me with the company. I look forward to growing with the brand and setting an example for other players who aim to be the best.”

Shelton too, seems super excited to join the team. His engagement in the deal definitely points towards On’s interest in promoting the young talent. “I’m really pumped to be the first male tennis player to be sponsored by On. As someone in the early stage of my professional career, I love that I have partnered with a company that has years of experience  and is looking to take over a new sport like tennis,” says Shelton.

How is Twitter taking this big news?

Tennis fans on Twitter immediately posted the news and two of the people who posted are José Morgado and Jon Wertheim.

Reacting to On’s update on Twitter, Morgado, a well-known sports journalist said, “Wow. Iga Swiatek now sponsored by Federer’s On!” 

 

On the other hand, Jon Wertheim, the popular sports author tweeted, “Swiss sportswear brand, On….has signed the women’s world number one ranked player, Poland’s Iga Świątek, who has been a leader of the discipline on and off the court since April 2022, and American rising star, Ben Shelton, as it expands its presence in professional Tennis”.
