Ons Jabeur and Frances Tiafoe‘s friendship has elevated in recent times. In fact, the American visited Tunisia last month and spent quality time with Jabeur. Recently, Tiafoe suggested the idea of playing mixed doubles with the Tunisian. With Wimbledon already knocking on the door, it seems highly unlikely that they could team up on the courts of SW19. However, Jabeur came up with a better idea.
Recently, the world number 6 participated in the Eurosport voice notes episode. She received voice note messages, which she had to answer publically. Judy Murray, husband Karim Kamoun, and Frances Tiafoe were among the sender. It was Tiafoe’s message that sprung excitement among the fans.

The conversation started with Jabeur playing Tiafoe’s voice note in the Eurosport Voice Notes. The American said, “When are you planning for us to play mixed doubles together? It would be an honour to share a court with you. Especially after how well you took care of me in your country. I want to bring my talents out with you on court.”
Jabeur was overwhelmed by Tiafoe’s plea, which was pretty evident by her reaction. She responded saying, “My bro! I was so happy that you came to Tunisia and hopefully next time you’ll come back. Mixed doubles, I was thinking US Open, we would have an amazing crowd there and I would enjoy playing doubles with you. You’re an amazing player and always fun to see you.”
Both Tiafoe and Jabeur share a special bond with the US Open. They played some of their best tennis at Flushing Meadows last year, and it seems like the perfect place for the duo to pair up for mixed doubles.
Why is the US Open the best slam for Jabeur and Frances Tiafoe to join forces?
Tiafoe’s rise to success started at last year’s US Open. He would barely make it top 20, but a semi-final run in New York, which included a monumental victory over Rafael Nadal, gave him the confidence to improve. The American hasn’t looked back since then and recently created history by breaking into the ATP Top 10. He also received an incredible amount of support from the home crowd in New York, which gave him extra energy every round.

Jabeur, on the other hand, made it to her second slam final at the US Open last year. Despite not making the second week of the slam prior to 2022, the Tunisian found her best level and delivered arguably her best performance in a slam at the US Open. She also received plenty of support from the crowd during her semi-final against Caroline Garcia.
