There is very little that Emma Navarro can do wrong at the moment. She has had a consistent start to this season and is making rapid strides on the WTA Tour. At 22, she has a big future ahead of her and is ready to take the next step. Not only on the court but also off the court. Recently, Navarro was selected for Team USA’s Billie Jean King Cup squad. As it was her debut appearance in the tournament, she was asked to follow a tradition that every American first-timer is tasked with – writing and then delivering a rookie rap. However, American tennis legend, Andy Roddick, was not very impressed with her performance which drew a sharp reaction from Lindsay Davenport, albeit in a playful manner.

Further, he went on to add, “Message heard loud and clear saying I was harsh, I like the tennis game more than rapping. Take it back, I like all the rapping, I would buy all the albums. I do not want to be on Lindsay’s bad side, I’ve avoided for many years.”
Davenport is Team USA’s Billie Jean King Cup captain. While Roddick didn’t like Navarro’s rap game, Davenport felt otherwise. Moreover, Navarro’s compatriots like Coco Gauff and Clervie Ngounoue were positive about her rapping skills and had interesting reactions following her performance.

Similarly, Brandon Holt hailed Navarro’s performance by terming her “Eminem-Varro.” All-in-all, it was a win-win situation for Navarro as she went on to prevail in her debut Billie Jean Cup encounter. She defeated Hanne Vandewinkel of Belgium in three sets to give her team a 2-0 lead in the tie.
