Aryna Sabalenka, the Belarusian tennis star, who is currently participating in the WTA Tour Finals at Fort Worth, Texas, shared her admiration for the legendary Serbian, Novak Djokovic, in a recent interview. She outlined her desire to play mixed doubles with the 21-time Grand Slam champion.

Djokovic is currently vying for the title in the Paris Masters. He has experienced great success at the Rolex Paris Masters throughout his career. The Nole holds a record six titles on the hard courts of Paris.

Sabalenka shared her desire to partner Novak Djokovic in a mixed doubles match

During her appearance in the Tennis Channel interview, Sabalenka talked about partnering with the Serbian star in mixed doubles. When the host asked her about her preferred mixed doubles partner, she said, “oh my God, that’s a tough question. I don’t know. I cannot say right now I would pick Novak Djokovic for mixed doubles probably.”

The 24-year-old Belarusian was also quizzed about her reactions to her potential qualification for the semi-finals of the 2022 WTA Finals. She said, “I mean I’ll be super happy and I’ll be ready.”

Sabalenka defeated Jessica Pegula and eliminated her from the 2022 WTA Tour Finals. Sabalenka got the match underway by breaking Pegula twice. She was successful to give herself a 5-2 lead. She was aware that her win in straight sets would increase her chances of moving on. By resoundingly defeating Jessica Pegula, she was able to give herself the best chance.

Together with Elise Mertens, Sabalenka has won two Grand Slam doubles championships, the 2019 US Open and the 2021 Australian Open. In total, she has won 16 titles in her career; ten singles titles and six in doubles.

Djokovic continue his stellar run at the 2022 ATP Paris Masters

Djokovic defeated Lorenzo Musetti 6-0, 6-3 in the quarterfinals of the Paris Masters. He pursued a record-extending seventh victory in Bercy. Since losing to Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals of the May French Open, Djokovic has won 18 consecutive matches in various competitions.

Djokovic is on track to win his record-extending seventh Paris Masters crown. Last year, Musetti had upset Djokovic in the fourth round of the French Open.
