In the previous season, the Danish tennis star joined hands with Patrick Mouratoglou, who became a part of his coaching team alongside Lars Christensen. Under the French tennis coach’s “9 months” tutelage, the 20-year-old bagged the 2022 Paris Masters title by outshining Novak Djokovic in the championship match.

He said, “What a ride @holgerrune2003 ! In 9 months, winning Paris, playing final of Monte Carlo and Rome, winning Stockholm and Munich?. From 30 to no4 ATP. Unfortunately, all the stories have to come to an end.”

According to some candid revelations from the Danish tennis star’s mother, things just “didn’t work out” between Rune and Mouratoglou. She further revealed how there were some ego clashes between Rune’s coaches. Mouratoglou and Christensen’s ‘ego issues’ were quite evident during the ATP player’s participation in Grand Slam events.
During his campaign at the grass-court major event this season, Rune was under the guidance of Christensen. Meanwhile, the French tennis coach remained absent throughout the 20-year-old player’s ‘quarterfinal’ run at the Wimbledon.
But things were different during the clay major event when the 53-year-old was there alongside the Dane. Christensen, on the other, was the one this time whose absence was glaring at the French Open this season.
