Imagine this: you walk up to a table, spot some delicious food, and your mouth starts watering. You grab it, ready to take a bite, only to realize—wait for it—it’s not for you but for your pet! Cue the embarrassment. Well, it turns out even tennis pros aren’t immune to these kinds of mix-ups, and former American ace John Isner just experienced one firsthand.
In a hilarious turn of events, Isner’s confusion was teased by none other than Coco Gauff’s coach Brad Gilbert, who took to social media and exposed the 39-year-old. It seems that Isner made the innocent mistake of considering dog food as his own, and Gilbert did not fail to picture the act instantly.
Taking to his X account, Gilbert shared a picture in which a hand can be seen reaching out to a bowl. Captioning the image, Gilbert wrote, “very funny 😄 big fella @JohnIsner reaching into bowl thinking 🤔 ginger snaps and about to eat them only to find out they were dog 🐕 treats.” While there is no clarity about the situation and place in the image, it has definitely caught Isner in the act, who is quite famous for his eating habits.

Isner is known for a healthy and nutrition-based diet. But even his strict diet plan could not stop him from exploring a new celebration method at the 2018 Wimbledon, where he achieved his best Grand Slam results. After advancing to the semi-finals of the tournament, Isner revealed a unique celebration that he had been undertaking after each win.

Speaking at the post-match conference, Isner said, “After each win throughout these 10 days, I’ve had a KitKat. I’m not going to change that now.” The former pro, who retired in 2023, has continued to capture headlines time and again with his funny acts and remarks, which have continued to leave tennis enthusiasts in splits.

When John Isner’s statement on family planning left Andy Roddick in splits
Besides possessing a great amount of tennis skills, John Isner is also the proud dad of four children. Isner recently engaged in an interaction with Andy Roddick on the latter’s Served with Roddick podcast. Speaking in the interview, Isner revealed how difficult it was for him towards the final days of his career with four kids at home waiting for him. It was this time when Roddick decided to ask a humorous question as he quizzed, “You understand how kids are made, right?”

Isner was no different in his approach as he answered similarly. “I do understand how kids are made, yeah. And my wife and I have of course become pretty proficient in that…you know, we have had four kids in 5 years.” Remember, Isner and his wife Madison McKinley welcomed their first child, Hunter Grace, in 2018, just a year after their marriage. Their second child, John, was born the next year in 2019. The couple once again announced their pregnancy soon after and welcomed the third child, James, in 2021. And it was in 2023, the year when Isner hung up his racquet, that the couple welcomed their fourth child, Chapel.
For now, it will be interesting to see if Isner responds to Gilbert’s post with a similar reaction, adding more to the ongoing fun.
