The electronic line calling, which was approved way back in 2005 by the ITF, is a system that uses a device that records where a ball has landed on the court. As a result, calls are automatically made by this device and it eliminates the requirement of line judges to make the calls.
However, the ongoing ATP World Tour Finals isn’t using this technology. Gilbert expressed his displeasure at this as he took to his official Twitter handle to reveal his unhappiness. The legendary coach said, “still struggling why @atptour championships are not using electronic line calling instead of hawkeye, so much easier for the players.”

The ATP has maintained that it will make electronic line calling mandatory by 2025 at all tournaments. However, it is still not being implemented at the year-ending championship, which frustrated Gilbert. This technology has been widely supported by the players. Even Grand Slam champion, Marion Bartoli gave her thumbs up for it.

What did Marion Bartoli say about the new technology?
The 39-year-old tennis star felt that the electronic line calling technology would remove the discrepancy in decision-making and would make the sport fair for all. As a result, she was widely in favor of accepting this system.
Talking about this, she said, “And I’ve been on the court myself and the umpire coming down, and he’s trying to sort of draw the end of the mark and you don’t agree with him. You feel like you have been robbed or the point should be yours.”
