Wimbledon 2024’s day three schedule appears to be testing the patience of players. Soon after the day 2 schedule almost came to an end, the eager ATP and WTA stars were served with the setup of their upcoming showdowns. However, the table came out to be incomplete as only the matches to be played on Center Court and Court 1 were revealed in the given list. While players like Coco Gauff and Naomi Osaka found relief, others kept waiting for their slots to be revealed.

The authorities have recently released the schedule for Day 3 at Wimbledon, set for Wednesday, July 3, 2024. Although the lineup became a reason for the fans’ interest, it somehow irritated the participants. Stan Wawrinka, who defeated Charles Broom on Day 1, is eagerly waiting to be in his second-round showdown against Gael Monfils. Enquiring about his slot, the ATP star tweeted, “Can we get the schedule for tomorrow soon pls @Wimbledon?! 🙏🏻🌱🎾”

The issue extended to the WTA side as well. Maria Sakkari, who defeated McCartney Kessler on Day 1, is scheduled to take the court against Arantxa Rus in her next showdown. While the Greek WTA star also didn’t get to know about her slot because of the delay, she also echoed the voice of Wawrinka with a simple Yes plz @Wimbledon” response. While these were the ones to raise voices for many other participants, a few lucky ones remained unbothered.

Starting at 1:30 PM on Centre Court, the available list gave out the name of Alexandre Muller from France who will face the fifth seed, Daniil Medvedev from Russia. Coming up next on the same court, Japan’s Naomi Osaka and the 19th seed from the USA, Emma Navarro will be battling against each other for a slot in the third round. The final match on Centre Court will see an all-Italian clash between the top seed Jannik Sinner and Matteo Berrettini.

Moving on to the No. 1 Court, action is set to begin at 1:00 PM with a match between Anca Todoni who is scheduled to face second seed Coco Gauff. Soon after that, the third seed Carlos Alcaraz will go against Aleksandar Vukic from Australia. Along with that, action on Day 3 will conclude with a match featuring Emma Raducanu against Elise Mertens from Belgium. However, it isn’t just the schedule that was delayed at this year’s Wimbledon.

Day 2 play at Wimbledon gave out several surprises. While Novak Djokovic proved his levels by serving his opening-round rival with a defeat, several other matches were halted due to heavy rain. The action on uncovered courts was first suspended for about 75 minutes shortly after midday local time.

While things seemed to be in control for a while, another hour-long delay occurred shortly before 3:30 p.m. However, despite the rain, play began as planned on Centre Court at 1:30 p.m. and No. 1 Court at 1 p.m., because of the fact that they are equipped with retractable roofs.

Some of the matches were resumed but they had to be canceled due to the extensive delays. Here’s a list of the matches that were rescheduled:

  • Osorio vs. Davis
  • Frech vs. Haddad Maia
  • Krejcikova vs. Kudermetova
  • Halys vs. Eubanks
  • Karatsev vs. Khachanov

These matches will be played at a later date as the tournament continues. With the day 3 schedule already delayed, the rescheduling of matches could be a possible reason behind testing the patience of participants.
