Did Carlos Alcaraz's Wimbledon moment with Krejcikova make you laugh or cringe? Share your thoughts!

Wimbledon is one of the oldest tennis tournaments and has continued following age-old traditions. From players wearing all-white attire to them bowing in front of the Royal family, these traditions are still followed today. One such tradition is the men’s and women’s singles champions shaking a leg together during the champions’ dinner. As emotions flew for the Carlos Alcaraz after clinching second Wimbledon title in a row, he was caught up in an awkward situation during the presentation ceremony.

While Alcaraz won the men’s singles title this year defeating a familiar foe, Novak Djokovic , Barbora Krejcikova defeated Jasmine Paolini to win the women’s singles title. As a result, Alcaraz would be showing off his dancing skills with Krejcikova as per the Wimbledon tradition. Former tennis star Annabel Croft posed a playful question to Alcaraz after his dominant victory. When asked about his dancing skills, the newly crowned champion seemed caught off guard, blushing slightly before responding.

Alcaraz’s rapid rise to four Grand Slam titles, including a recent victory over Djokovic, has made him the quickest man to do so but left the inexperienced dancer awkwardly positioned for the champions’ dinner. “Let’s say, could be better I guess. Yeah, let’s see tonight, but I try to do my best.”

Alcaraz’s historic Wimbledon win was overshadowed only by Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph. The tennis champion admitted to pausing his trip to the champions’ dinner to confirm Spain’s winning goal, prioritizing his national team’s victory over his own personal celebration. Interestingly, before the match, Alcaraz had wished Spain’s captain, Alvaro Morata, good luck. As soon as Spain overcame England 2-1, Carlitos was ready to celebrate his second consecutive win over the Serb. All while grooving!

Later that evening, Alcaraz fulfilled the traditional final-night dinner by dancing with women’s champion Krejcikova. The pair’s spontaneous and energetic performance to a Dua Lipa 2023 song ‘Dance the Night’, captivated the audience, adding another highlight to Alcaraz’s unforgettable day. A standout moment during the champions’ dance saw Alcaraz, impeccably dressed in a tuxedo, gracefully twirl his two-time Grand Slam counterpart, Barbora.

The Spaniard put on a confident look back then, dressed in a black suit over a white shirt, and looked dapper while holding the trophy. However, this year, his emotions shifted to nervousness before shaking his leg with the Czech Republican star.
