Serena Williams’ former coach Rick Macci is a big admirer of Carlos Alcaraz. He hails the Spaniard as a “unique generational talent.” Macci is fond of making predictions for Carlitos. He had previously predicted that Alcaraz would go to “another level in 2024” and be a Grand Slam winner. Guess what? His predictions were bang on at that time! Carlos Alcaraz has had a wonderful outing this season. He won 4 titles and 2 out of them were Grand Slam triumphs. Then, a few months later, he predicted Alcaraz to win the US Open. However, he horribly failed at that one! Now, Macci has come up with a prediction for the 2025 season.
Carlos Alcaraz has set numerous records as the youngest player to achieve some of the most remarkable milestones in tennis history. He’s just 21-year-old, and he has now become the youngest male player to complete a ‘Career Surface Slam’! Earlier this year, Alcaraz also became the youngest player in the Open Era to win the French Open and Wimbledon titles in the same season. In fact, he also created a record at the Olympics by becoming the youngest men’s singles silver medalist. So, looking at his performances in the 2024 season, Rick Macci looks quite optimistic about Carlos Alcaraz’s chances in 2025!
In a recent tweet, he stated, “Fasten seat belt in 2025 as the young Carlos Alcaraz now has tasted the ups downs highs lows peaks, and Valleys and the magician will win 2 or 3 Slams and produce many epic jaw-dropping breathtaking Rallies. @carlosalcaraz.”

Even in November 2023, Macci tipped him to win a “bucket of Grand Slams” in his career and also said, that, “He is a combination of, I tell everybody, [Roger] Federer, [Rafael] Nadal, Djokovic, and [Andre] Agassi, all wrapped in one.” He even once dubbed Alcaraz as the “Chosen One!”

Can Carlos Alcaraz live up to the expectations of this legendary coach in the 2025 season? Alcaraz laying bare his primary goals for the next season hint at something.
What’s Carlos Alcaraz’s main goal for the 2025 season?
Well, Carlos Alcaraz had already revealed that one of his primary goals for the 2025 season would be to stay fresh in the later stages of the campaign. “It is a goal (to stay fresh in the last phase of the season). As I said, I think this year I came to this part of the year much better than last year, but way far from where I want to be. For me, it is a goal to come here, come to this part of the year, as fresh mentally as I can, try to find every place, every tournament, every match enjoyable.”

Alcaraz has played almost 61 matches this season, and he clearly looked a bit exhausted after his heroics at the China Open against Jannik Sinner. Further reflecting on his thoughts about these hardships, he added, “It is not easy. It is not easy, at least for me, traveling a lot in this part of the year. I miss home. I want to spend time with my close people at home. I have to travel. I have to play more tournaments, more matches. But anyway, as I said, I have to find it enjoyable playing these kind of tournaments, because is a privilege. But, yeah, next year I will try to be better on that part.”
As per several reports, Carlos Alcaraz may skip the warm-up events and could start his season directly at the 2025 AO, just like what he did this year. Apart from that, interestingly, Carlos Alcaraz has also confirmed his return to the Queen’s Club Championships the next summer ahead of his quest to win a third Wimbledon title. He has won back-to-back titles at SW19! Now, the question is: Can he emulate the likes of Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Bjorn Borg by completing a successful ‘Threepeat’ in 2025?
