After one of the most historic days in tennis, plenty of fans’ and experts’ opinions changed. Novak Djokovic‘s straight-set victory over Casper Ruud in the Roland Garros finally put him on a pedestal like never before. The Serb now holds the most important individual record in men’s tennis: the slam count. He has surpassed Rafael Nadal‘s record of 22 titles while also going three more than Roger Federer who retired at 20.

Djokovic received plenty of applause across the tennis fraternity. Many gave him the title of the greatest player of all time, despite being fans of his rivals. Among this crowd, a certain Canadian star, Eugenie Bouchard, had her say on the never-ending G.O.A.T debate.

The former world number 5, Eugenie Bouchard was in awe of Novak Djokovic. After last night’s final, she brushed aside her feelings for her idol, Roger Federer and dropped her objective opinion on the debate.

Bouchard tweeted, “I’m the biggest Roger fan but we all have to admit Novak is the undisputed goat. Insanely impressive.

She also went on to quote Andy Roddick later and admitted that she accepted Novak Djokovic for who he is.

The Roland Garros 2023 final was arguably the final nail in the coffin of the debate. For Djokovic to keep chasing two giants of the game throughout his career and finally surpass them is truly incredible. It certainly is one of the most beautiful stories in sports history. Bouchard is the latest to agree to her idol’s archrival’s greatness.

However, despite conceding to Djokovic’s supremacy in the GOAT race, Bouchard has always remained loyal to her idol Roger Federer.
