Serena Williams and Roger Federer are two of the biggest names in modern-day tennis. It is almost impossible to imagine the tennis world without them now. However, the time came for the sad ending recently. Both Serena and Federer bid goodbye to tennis in a span of two months.

Fans always wanted to see a clash between the two of the greatest players of all time. They had to wait for a long time and that moment finally came in 2019. When Serena and Federer came face to face in a doubles match. Following the match, Serena Williams had some kind words to say about the Swiss Maestro.

Graceful Serena Williams was full of praise for Roger Federer after her defeat

It was a once-in-a-lifetime moment for tennis fans. American tennis legend Serena Williams paired up with Frances Tiafoe, playing for her country against the Swiss pair of Roger Federer and Belinda Bencic. As the match ended, Serena was full of praise for the 20-time Grand Slam champion.

Speaking highly about her opponent, the American said, “It was a great experience. I’m kind of sad it’s over—you know, I was just warming up,” Serena said.

She further added, “We grew up together, really, and having an opportunity, after all these years, we’ve actually never done this, and so this was super cool that we got to do this at such a pinnacle point in both our careers. For me, it was super cool. I literally wanted to take pictures and bring my baby out. I was way too excited.”

Not only Serena, but the whole world enjoyed it as two of the greatest players of the era finally played on opposite sides of the nets for the first time.

Federer and Serena congratulated each other on their retirement

2022 was a heartbreaking year for tennis fans. Both Serena Williams and Roger Federer declared their retirement and played their last matches within two months. Serena was the first to drop the news as she declared her retirement after the US Open 2022.

Federer came up with a beautiful post on the retirement of his good friend, speaking about how he thought they were never going to retire. Later, Federer played his last match at the Laver Cup. It was even more emotional as we saw two of the greatest player of the generation, Federer and Rafael Nadal, burst into tears. Later, Serena also congratulated the Swiss maestro for a wonderful career.
