Carlos Alcaraz tasted a major breakthrough in the previous season when marked his first major triumph in the hard court event in New York. The young ATP sensation’s meteoric rise on the tour was lavishly praised by the entire tennis community including Serena Williams‘ childhood coach, Rick Macci.

While heaping admiration on the Spaniard, the legendary American coach previously issued a bold “GOAT” prediction about him. Now, after a season, Macci was recently reminded of his staggering remarks by a furry of fans of Novak Djokovic, who recently clinched his 24th record-equaling Grand Slam title.

The 20-year-old amassed 5 singles ATP titles in the previous season, propelling him into the top 5 spots of the men’s rankings. Alcaraz’s profound success on the tour caught the attention of  Macci as he made a ‘GOAT’ prediction while the ‘Big 3’ including Djokovic had to take a backseat.

He said, “I’ve seen Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic when they were young, but in the last 30 years I haven’t seen anyone like Carlos Alcaraz. I can see this guy becoming the greatest player of all time.”

However, the USPTA national coach’s bold comments didn’t sit well with the fans of the Serbian tennis legend who has now established himself in the top spot of the Grand Slam tally. One fan reminded Macci of his staggering prediction on Twitter, “Evening @RickMacci do you still think Alcaraz will finish as the greatest Tennis player of all time?”

Other Djokovic fans also flocked to the comments section as they expressed their own views on Macci’s assertions about the young Spaniard. Another user claimed, “No shot at that, in order to become the greatest ever you need guys at your level to keep pushing you to new heights like the “big 3” did for each other, otherwise you could be like Bjon Borg who accomplished so much so fast & got bored of it”

A fan asserted that Alcaraz might win the most major titles on the tour but he will never become a part of the ‘GOAT’ category. He commented, “He could end up with the most slams but will never be the GOAT. The era of the big 3 was the most competitive and dominant. The current generation is no where close. Carlos has it easy.”

Meanwhile, a user took a jab at the legendary American coach’s statements as he said “Maybe not, he had 10 minutes of attention after that statement… 🤣🤣🤣”.

A fan also called out at the American while labelling his remarks as ‘obscene idiocy,’ “Do any of these Wrongstradamuses ever respond when you expose their obscene idiocy?”

Similarly, another fan brutally claimed that the 2-time singles Grand Slam champion won’t be the greatest as no ATP player can surpass the ‘Djoker’.
