Ben Shelton is on a roll at both the singles and doubles events of his home Grand Slam event in New York. In the singles event, the American tennis prodigy has outshined some of the big guns including Tommy Paul and Dominic Thiem in order to reach the quarterfinal round of the US Open. Even at the mixed doubles event, the ATP player is making headlines for his stellar run with his compatriot, Taylor Townsend.

During his phenomenal campaign on home soil, the 20-year-old player has also brought to light his ‘biceps flex’ celebration on the court. And it now looks like Shelton’s new mixed doubles partner has also been inspired by his signature celebration as she pulled off a similar act.  Taking note of her cold antics on the court, the former world No. 35 recently delivered his ‘tuff’ verdict on social media.

For the very first time in their competitive tennis journey, Ben Shelton and Taylor Townsend have teamed up for the mixed doubles event of the US Open. The American duo has been performing brilliantly as they have already reached the semifinal round after their recent victory against the pair of Hugo Nys and Demi Schuurs.

While teaming up with the ATP player, Townsend recently emulated his ‘biceps flex’ celebration at the hard court major event. It came to the public lens when the 27-year-old shared a video of some of her coldest moments including her ‘biceps flex’ move on the court. Townsend further labeled it as “Big dawg status,” in the caption of her Instagram post.

Her mixed doubles partner, Shelton was quick to react in the comments section as he delivered his verdict. He commented, “So Tuff”.  Even her American colleague on the WTA Tour, Alycia Parks also expressed her admiration by saying, “Queen T”.

In the singles event of the US Open, the 27-year-old has already been knocked out after her initial round defeat against the 10th seed Czech, Karolína Muchová. However, Townsend is now making amends with some of her brilliant performances at both the doubles events of her home Grand Slam event.

For the women’s doubles campaign, the American tennis star has teamed up with the Canadian, Leylah Annie Fernandez.  After outshining Karolína Plíšková and Donna Vekić, the sixth-seeded pair has now reached the quarterfinal round of the US Open.
