What a way to start the year! We’re now just days away from the much-awaited clash between the newly engaged couple, Alex de Minaur and Katie Boulter at the United Cup. Both of them will be rivals at the United Cup for the second consecutive year when Australia takes on Great Britain on January 1. Speaking on this epic “battle“, previously Boulter said, “I wouldn’t say I was thrilled at the idea of playing him all over again. He’s a top-10 player and he knows how to play tennis, so there’s one side of it. Then there’s the personal side of it, which is difficult but also great for bragging rights.” This is a real challenge for both of them! Is she ready to take on the world number 9, though?

Well, during a recent press conference at the 2025 United Cup, Katie Boulter was asked about how she feels about facing Alex de Mianaur at the United Cup tie. In reply to that question, the Brit answered, “I really thought I was going to get through a press conference without having to answer this. I had such high hopes. Yeah, I mean, it’s a tough situation. It is. It’s a tough one. He was smiling when I came off the court because we kept them in it, so he’s happy. I’m not going to be happy until I win. Yeah, I’m just looking forward to a battle.”

Speaking more about this epic matchup during the press conference, Boulter added, “Look, I don’t know what’s going to happen on the day. I just have to keep my head down and try not to think too much about it, but we’re both going to be fighting for it. We both want it. We both are competitive. No matter what happens, we’re still going to go home happy. That’s all that matters.” What did Alex de Minaur say about this “battle” though?
