Frances Tiafoe doesn’t seem to get enough of Ayan Broomfield’s Aussie Slang, all thanks to the premium French champagne. The Australian Open’s partnership with the premium French Champagne house Piper-Heidsieck has been ongoing for a long time. This year, Ayan Broomfield, a tennis player turned influencer, joined the exclusive lineup of brand ambassadors of the premium champagne brand along with Thanasi Kokkinakis. The partnership aims to bring the effervescence of champagne to the dynamism of the Australian Open and Broomfield is playing an important role in engaging fans with the brand.
In her recent collaboration with the brand, Broomfield posted a video on her Instagram where she spoke closely with some of the spectators of the Australian Open. She interacted with tennis enthusiasts, showcasing the vibrant atmosphere of the tournament while seamlessly tying in Piper-Heidsieck’s luxury appeal.
However, the highlight of this promotional campaign was Broomfield herself trying her hand at the Aussie accent in the video. She playfully said, “Good day, mate!” with her best attempt at the accent, adding a fun and relatable element. Tiafoe, who is ever supportive of her girlfriend, tried to play around with that humorously. In the post’s comments, he imitated Broomfield, saying: “Good day mate 😂😂😂,” laughing off her attempt to nail the Australian accent.

This lighthearted moment wasn’t the first time the couple showed their strong bond with each other on social media. For instance, on Valentine’s Day in 2018, Broomfield posted a heartfelt photo of the two, captioning it “My valentine for the day✩,” marking one of the earliest public acknowledgments of their relationship. In 2024, Tiafoe reciprocated the sentiment on National Girlfriend’s Day by sharing a tribute to Broomfield on Instagram. He posted a beautiful picture of the two and captioned it, “Happy National GF’s Day,” complete with heart emojis.

Both Tiafoe and Broomfield have stood strong for each other in challenging times as well. During the French Open in 2024, Tiafoe faced criticism online after a tough first-round victory. Ayan didn’t hesitate to step in and defend him. She replied to a negative comment on his Instagram post, stating, “He’s been him. always him. take your negativity elsewhere.”
Whether it’s through playful banter, heartfelt tributes, or making a certain point, their connection remains a source of joy for fans worldwide.

Ayan Broomfield calls Out ‘lack of diversity’ at the Australian Open on TikTok
While supporting Tiafoe during his match in Melbourne, Broomfield observed a lack of people of color among the spectators, and she candidly shared this on TikTok.
“I just made a TikTok about how I was at the Australian Open. I was there to watch my boyfriend play and I really didn’t see any other women or people of color. In specific, Black people, but people of color nonetheless,” she said in the video. The post went viral as she cited reasons shared by others, such as difficulty in securing tickets, intense heat, a sense of not belonging, and uncertainty about who to cheer for. Broomfield also addressed the need for representation, asserting, “That representation matters.“
In addition to this, she also encouraged her community to “take up space and show up,” emphasizing that consistent presence is essential for creating a sense of belonging. “if we don’t keep taking up space and showing up, it’s never going to get better,” Broomfield stated. Her rallying message was a call to action for more diversity and inclusion in tennis events.

Broomfield further addressed the issue by providing a helpful guide for viewers unsure of whom to support. Along with mentioning the name of her Boyfriend Frances Tiafoe, she highlighted players like Coco Gauff, calling her “a young American superstar,” and Naomi Osaka, praising her incredible achievements, including multiple Grand Slam titles. “The more you see yourself in these rooms, in these positions, the more comfortable you will feel,” Broomfield concluded, underscoring the importance of visibility.
Both Frances Tiafoe and Ayan Broomfield have become one of tennis’s most admired couples. And it’s not just because of their achievements but also for their ability to lift their community and inspire each other in the public eye.
