Does Andy Roddick's candidness make him the most relatable tennis star off the court?

Andy Roddick might have hung up his racket, but his sharp humor and quick wit have kept him as relevant as ever. From his hilarious hot takes on tennis to sharing behind-the-scenes stories, Andy’s knack for a good laugh has built him an ever-growing fanbase. But this time, the buzz isn’t about his commentary—it’s coming from even closer to home. His wife, Brooklyn Decker, has jumped into the spotlight with a playful take on her husband’s latest and unique stint with Aryna Sabalenka.

The former American tennis sensation engaged in an interaction with Aryna Sabalenka for his Served with Roddick podcast and deliberated on a wide range of topics. He also revealed to Sabalenka that he was upset with her earlier this year over her decision to withdraw from Wimbledon, which the Belarusian player attributed to a shoulder injury.

Speaking in the interview, Roddick said, “I was angry with you earlier this year. We have to get a preview show for Wimbledon out, right. I am like man okay, well I mean I know who I think is going to win like I would that it was pretty obvious to me at that point and then if you didn’t pull out six hours after I made my call.” This revelation quickly drew a cheeky reaction from Sabalenka who entered into a unique deal with the 2003 US Open winner.

Responding to Roddick, the Belarusian tennis star apologized and said, “I’m so sorry. But you know, thank you so much for picking me.” Continuing further, she requested, “Probably for the next grand slams can you don’t pick us so we got to make it to the finals? That’s a deal” But what caught attention was the reaction from Roddick’s wife Decker, who responded to the video on Instagram. She exuberantly wrote, “Yes!! 🙌,” signifying her agreement with Sabalenka and taking a playful dig at her husband. Interestingly, this is not the first time when she has shared such a moment with Roddick.

In March this year, Decker playfully expressed her anger at Roddick for giving her a bizarre gift. She took to her social media and questioned, “Odd gift choice or Am I a d*ck?.” Elaborating further, she added, “Next month is my birthday and it’s our 15-year wedding anniversary and then shortly after that Mother’s Day follows. And, my husband very excitedly told me this weekend that he got me a treadmill. Treadmill for all three of the holidays.” This took many by surprise in the tennis community drawing humorous reactions against Roddick. But while the couple has often shared such moments, they also revealed that the beginning of their relationship was not as smooth as it is now.

Speaking in the interview, Roddick said, “I went from, ‘I don’t think I’m gonna get in a serious relationship forever,’ and then we were engaged in, like, six months. And then we really got to know each other.” Decker also expressed similar sentiments as she shed her views on overcoming the challenges. “With our relationship, I think that ego and insecurity about failing – and failing publicly – was very much a motivation to put our heads together and figure this out,” she said.

But now, the couple seems to have overcome the unwanted phase of their lives. It will now be interesting to see if Roddick responds back to Decker in a similarly playful manner.
